The victim, Austin Metcalf, was white. Anthony\u2019s family <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/karmelo-anthony-spokesman-cites-white-supremacy-family-begs-money\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">has claimed \u201cwhite supremacy\u201d<\/a> is behind prosecutors\u2019 efforts to send him to prison for taking a young man\u2019s life away over a school spat.<\/p>\n<p>And judging by the amount of money <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/karmelo-anthony-raises-eye-watering-amount-cash-online-startling-twist-murder-case\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">that has poured in<\/a> from Anthony supporters, it appears many agree. And some of them were on hand outside the Collin County courthouse in McKinney, Texas.<\/p>\n<p>At another point, the small crowd began to chant: \u201cWe love our black youth, they deserve protection, too.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">\u201cWe love our black youth, they deserve protection too!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Karmelo Anthony supporters are currently chanting outside of the Collin County courthouse about how black youth deserve to be protected.<\/p>\n<p>They lashed out at another local reporter today and are being aggressive with any\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/aJhwV6irsF\">pic.twitter.com\/aJhwV6irsF<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 FRONTLINES TPUSA (@FrontlinesTPUSA) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/FrontlinesTPUSA\/status\/2062567359265518026?\">June 4, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.x.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Anthony, who was 17 at the time, is accused of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/student-stabbed-high-school-track-meet-dies-twins-arms-teen-charged-murder-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">stabbing Metcalf to death<\/a> on April 2, 2025, at a track meet in Frisco, Texas, about two hours north of Waco in the central part of the state.<\/p>\n<p>During a rain delay, Anthony, then a student at Frisco\u2019s Centennial High School, ducked into a tent reserved for track athletes from Frisco\u2019s Memorial High School.<\/p>\n<p>A confrontation ensued, and Anthony, who had brought a knife with him to the meet, plunged the blade into Metcalf\u2019s chest. Metcalf died in his twin brother\u2019s arms.<\/p>\n<p>There has never been serious doubt about the basic facts of the case \u2014 Anthony <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/dad-teen-fatally-stabbed-student-athlete-track-meet-says-son-innocent-not-aggressor\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">confessed to the stabbing<\/a> to a police officer but said he was protecting himself.<\/p>\n<p>The question being resolved at trial is whether it was legally murder or self-defense. Anthony faces life in prison if he\u2019s convicted.<\/p>\n<p>A panel of 12 jurors and six alternates was selected on Wednesday, according to a report from Fort Worth-based <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kwtx.com\/2026\/06\/04\/jury-seated-karmelo-anthony-murder-trial-after-defense-challenges-prosecutor-strikes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">KTVT-TV<\/a> in Fort Worth. None of the members is black.<\/p>\n<p>After opening arguments Thursday, the jurors were shown a number of videos of the encounter. However, it wasn\u2019t clear how much the videos would help determine the strength of Anthony\u2019s \u201cself-defense\u201d argument.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNone of the videos we\u2019ve seen today show the altercation or the stabbing,\u201d Austin\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kvue.com\/article\/news\/crime\/track-meet-stabbing-trial-opening-statements-karmelo-anthony-case-live-updates\/287-cef62997-6bc6-40fc-851a-e0d796202655\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">KVUE-TV<\/a> reported. \u201cThe images in the video are not clear because they have to be magnified to see them.
