Several weeks later, in what one journalist called a political \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/leftists-melt-new-york-times-columnist-tells-truth-democrats-coup\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">coup<\/a>,\u201d Democrat leaders jettisoned then-President Biden and replaced him with now-former Vice President Kamala Harris at the top of their 2024 presidential ticket.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe had a duty to win and we didn\u2019t,\u201d Bates said. \u201cI think about that all the time. But I don\u2019t see why that painful conversation for the party needed to be publicly reopened right now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to the U.K.\u2019s  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.com\/news\/article-15872469\/jill-biden-andrew-bates-book-release.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Daily Mail<\/a>, the former first lady addressed Bates\u2019 comments during a Wednesday evening book-promotion event at the Sixth and I synagogue in Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n<p>At one point, event moderator Paola Ramos noted Bates\u2019 criticism of the book.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou know,\u201d the former first lady said in a clip posted to the social media platform X, \u201cI just want to say that my book has one chapter on the political wounds. One. One. The rest of the book contains my reflections of the four years at the White House.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She later added, in effect, that Bates has her phone number if he wants to lodge a complaint.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo I want to say to Andrew, \u2018call me up and say it to my face, buddy,&#8217;\u201d the former first lady said, drawing applause from the audience and a \u201cwow\u201d from Ramos.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo be fair,\u201d the moderator replied, \u201che did go to the New York Post.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOh, he went to the Post. She also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/jill-biden-reveals-joe-whispered-walked-off-debate-stage\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reportedly admitted<\/a> that the president immediately knew he had delivered a bad performance, which she confirmed for him.<\/p>\n<p>In short, the former first lady\u2019s attempt to re-write history has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/former-biden-staffers-turn-jill-new-book-just-selfish\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">irritated many Democrats<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhy did we push out he had a cold,\u201d one former Biden staffer asked Wednesday, per the Post, \u201cif she thought he had a stroke?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Another former staffer put it more bluntly.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo one thought he had a stroke,\u201d the staffer told the Post. \u201cThat is in her head and her head only. This has been litigated and relitigated among staff. We didn\u2019t think he had a health issue because they kept on with the schedule. Immediately to the afterparty and then to Waffle House. Who goes to Waffle House after a stroke?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After the debate, the Bidens did indeed visit an Atlanta-area Waffle House.
