Nowak is said to have been wounded and pleading for help, but officers allegedly relied on a false claim from Vickrum Digwa-a Sikh man later convicted of stabbing him-and treated Nowak as if he had not been injured.The article argues that this failure to provide timely medical care left Nowak to die, even though the judge later found that Nowak had not made racist statements as the killing was framed.<\/p>\n<p>It then broadens to criticize the UK\u2019s approach to \u201cfree speech\u201d and policing, alleging that authorities focus more on suppressing certain beliefs than on preventing violent wrongdoing. The piece compares Nowak\u2019s case to other instances in the US and elsewhere where it claims political rhetoric and censorship contribute to escalating hostility and violence-including references to attacks and assassination attempts, and to comments by activists arguing some ideological groups \u201cdon\u2019t deserve to live.\u201d The author concludes that suppressing speech and labeling opponents as deserving of elimination can culminate in lethal outcomes,warning that Britain may experience further casualties if it continues down the same path.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Henry Nowak, an 18-year-old Briton who died in police custody in December, got a death sentence for a thoughtcrime he never committed.<\/p>\n<p>Newly released bodycam <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/europa\/status\/2061555027261497774?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">footage<\/a> of Nowak\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >arrest shows police arriving<\/a> at a residential driveway to find Nowak bleeding on the ground. A Sikh man named Vickrum Digwa, who would eventually be convicted of fatally stabbing Nowak with a blade that only Sikhs are allowed to carry in Britain, falsely claimed to police that Nowak had treated him with racial animus. Evidently believing Digwa\u2019s accusations but not Nowak\u2019s cries for help, the police rolled Nowak\u2019s limp body over and placed handcuffs on his wrists. In response to his repeated pleas for treatment of his stab wounds, police can be heard telling him, \u201cI don\u2019t think you have [been stabbed], mate.\u201d He died moments after police read him his rights as an accused criminal.<\/p>\n<p>Digwa was convicted of murder and was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/articles\/c62ek7lk553o\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sentenced<\/a> on Monday. He can be eligible for parole in as few as 21 years. During the trial, the judge concluded \u201cthat Nowak had not said anything racist to the Sikh man who killed him,\u201d according to the BBC.<\/p>\n<p>The finding came too late to help Nowak, of course. In his final moments, he was tried, convicted, and sentenced in the minds of the state actors who refused him aid. For years, the British police state has been more concerned with restraining the speech of its citizens than with restraining the <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.is\/W76Mw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">disproportionate<\/a> number of new arrivals who murder and <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/01\/10\/u-k-grooming-gangs-scandal-could-happen-in-the-u-s-thanks-to-leftist-justice-system\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">rape<\/a> them. In December, the officers who responded to Nowak\u2019s slaying made the same calculus. <\/p>\n<p>While British law enforcement turned a blind eye to imported scandals like the now-infamous rape gangs, in which predominantly Pakistani Muslim men abused young British girls for decades with <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/01\/10\/u-k-grooming-gangs-scandal-could-happen-in-the-u-s-thanks-to-leftist-justice-system\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">protection<\/a> from local officials, they cracked down on native Britons for beliefs expressed on the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/08\/19\/world-news\/uk-free-speech-struggle-30-arrests-a-day-censorship\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">internet<\/a>, and even those held <a href=\"https:\/\/adfinternational.org\/news\/uk-christian-woman-criminally-charged-for-standing-silently-praying\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">silently<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The U.K. censorship regime is deadly, and not just because it leaves police with fewer resources to prosecute actual crimes. It\u2019s deadly because it indulges the idea that people who hold certain beliefs do not deserve to live freely \u2014 or at all. As an accused racist, Henry Nowak was deemed unworthy of timely and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-medical-establishments-racist-classist-argument-for-abortion\/\" title=\"Medical establishment supports abortion based on racism and classism.\">potentially life-saving care<\/a>, and he was sentenced to bleed out in handcuffs on the street.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s the same dogma that got civil liberties advocate Charlie Kirk martyred for his speech last year. Known for being one of the most effective and far-reaching communicators on the right, Kirk\u2019s hallmark was authentic, civil discourse with college students and others who disagreed with him. Leftists enraged by his speech smeared him as a racist and celebrated his assassination publicly because they believed he deserved to die. <\/p>\n<p>Kirk\u2019s assassination was part of a recent explosion of political violence on the American left, ranging from similar assassination attempts to mass riots. President Donald Trump has been the target of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/moscow-murders-the-danger-of-standing-up-to-the-russian-regime\/\" title=\"Moscow Murders: The Danger Of Standing Up To The Russian Regime\">multiple assassination attempts<\/a>; after one recent attack at the White House Correspondents\u2019 Dinner in April, bystanders fleeing the scene were <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/KatiePavlich\/status\/2048219535627386910\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">greeted<\/a> by protesters holding signs that urged death on their political opponents. Assassins from coordinated cells of leftist radicals have <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/07\/10\/terrorist-attack-in-texas-demands-federal-targeting-of-antifa\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">targeted<\/a> immigration law enforcement officers in sniper attacks. <\/p>\n<p>Nor is the disposition toward violence limited to members of Antifa cells. Before Virginians elected him attorney general last fall, Democrat Jay Jones was revealed to have fantasized about executing one of his Republican colleagues. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cGilbert gets two bullets to the head,\u201d\u00a0Jones <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/10\/03\/virginia-dem-ag-candidate-fantasized-about-assassinating-republican-wished-death-on-his-kids\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wrote<\/a> of former Virginia\u00a0House Speaker Todd Gilbert, imagining a hypothetical where he had two bullets and the opportunity to kill Gilbert, Adolf Hitler, or Cambodian dictator Pol Pot. To justify his murderous fantasies, Jones explained why he wished death on Gilbert and his family: \u201cI mean do I think Todd and Jennifer [Gilbert\u2019s wife] are evil? And that they\u2019re breeding little fascists? Yes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This idea that some people deserve death for their beliefs is the central premise that motivates left-wing violence. When a Columbia University student gained notoriety for saying his political opponents \u201cdon\u2019t deserve to live,\u201d he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/us-news\/columbia-university-says-banned-khymani-james-protester-said-zionists-rcna149642\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">explained<\/a> how central that premise is to leftist rhetoric.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe same way we\u2019re very comfortable accepting that Nazis don\u2019t deserve to live, fascists don\u2019t deserve to live, racists don\u2019t deserve to live, Zionists, they shouldn\u2019t live in this world,\u201d he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/us-news\/columbia-university-says-banned-khymani-james-protester-said-zionists-rcna149642\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a> in a video that went viral in 2024. Leftists often smear their opponents as fascists and racists for believing in things like the enforcement of criminal laws and national borders. Notably, a courtroom spectator reportedly <a href=\"https:\/\/smry.ai\/spectator.com\/article\/the-treatment-of-henry-nowaks-killer-was-all-about-race?edition=us&#038;smryFrom=home\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reacted<\/a> to Digwa\u2019s sentencing with an outburst that appeared to accuse the British judicial system of racism for returning such an outcome. <\/p>\n<p>As The Federalist\u2019s CEO Sean Davis <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/10\/08\/the-senate-asked-me-to-testify-about-bidens-censorship-of-the-federalist-heres-what-i-told-them\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">told<\/a> members of the Senate Commerce Committee last fall, \u201cIt begins with censorship. It moves to the destruction of statues and monuments. And it ends with the murder of people.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Allegations of racism, real or imagined, are one of the primary grounds cited by the British government when it <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/08\/19\/world-news\/uk-free-speech-struggle-30-arrests-a-day-censorship\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">jails<\/a> citizens for their speech. Similar allegations against <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2020\/07\/22\/list-of-183-monuments-ruined-since-protests-began-and-counting\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">national heroes<\/a> led to the violent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2020\/06\/08\/world\/europe\/edward-colston-statue-britain-racism.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">destruction<\/a> of monuments during the 2020 race riots, in Britain and in the United States, all raucously cheered by the corporate press. And an allegation of racism left a murdered Henry Nowak to die in shackles. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe drive to silence speech \u2026 always advances toward the violent elimination of speakers,\u201d Davis told the Commerce Committee. \u201cThat is because the authoritarian impulse to silence speech is driven by a totalitarian desire to seize total power by any means necessary, up to and including the murder of one\u2019s political opponents.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It was only a matter of time before Britain\u2019s war on wrongthink left someone dead. As the U.K.\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/06\/03\/henry-nowaks-murder-is-the-logical-conclusion-of-black-lives-matter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">preferential treatment of foreigners<\/a> has become increasingly deadly to native Britons, the government has relied more heavily on censorship to shut down its citizens\u2019 objections.
