The indictment also claims the SPLC told the individuals to misrepresent where the funds came from (e.g., that they worked for “Rare Books” and wrote essays for students).

The DOJ further alleges that money funded dangerous activities, including attending extremist rallies across multiple states, and that the payments enabled one individual to rise into a leadership position and recruit others. the indictment also claims SPLC reimbursed expenses related to cross-burning events, including wood and fuel, and that similar tactics were used with another individual (F-30), linked to multiple white nationalist extremist groups.

The SPLC has pleaded not guilty (in connection with earlier April charges), and the case is being litigated in federal court in Alabama.

The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) used donor funds to pay Ku Klux Klan (KKK) members to remain with the racist organization despite their insistence on wanting to leave, according to a new superseding Justice Department indictment.

The new bombshell came as part of a new DOJ filing first reported Tuesday evening that expands on the allegations contained in the agency’s April indictment against the SPLC.
