Police bodycam footage confirmed the most inflammatory details of reports about the murder, with police initially siding with Digwa after he accused the wounded Nowak of racism. The responding officers ignored Nowak\u2019s pleas for several minutes, going so far as to handcuff him as he lost consciousness and died. Two people were arrested, and Boon promised more.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWhat we, as a society, cannot accept is the violent scenes we saw in Southampton last night,\u201d Boon said. \u201cSome clearly arrived intent on causing disorder and trouble. We saw bottles thrown, makeshift weapons used, damage caused to the homes and vehicles of innocent residents, and threats and violence directed towards our officers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWhile we are forced to deal with those determined to spark fear and division, our finite resources are taken away from those who need it most,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Boon said police would retain a visible presence in the city\u2019s streets in the coming days to ensure order.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The limited riot sparked condemnations across the country from the Labour Party and other left-wing groups, who accused the ascendant Reform Party of stoking the violence. Prime Minister <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/keir-starmer\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"3660\">Keir Starmer<\/a>, speaking on the floor of Parliament on Wednesday, directly accused Reform leader <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/nigel-farage\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"4796\">Nigel Farage<\/a> of fanning the flames of violence, saying it was against the wishes of Nowak\u2019s father.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cExploiting this tragedy to create grievance and division would be wrong in any circumstances, but to do it when the family are expressly saying, \u2018please don\u2019t,\u2019 is unforgivable. It shows exactly who he is,\u201d Starmer said, gesturing to Farage.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a Tuesday video address, Farage spoke out against the racial sensitivity training police officers received, calling it \u201ctwo-tier policing.\u201d While praising the \u201cdignified\u201d response of Nowak\u2019s family, he argued the public should react differently \u2014 \u201cwith pure cold rage.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He backed up this sentiment in response to Labour\u2019s criticism on Wednesday, suggesting the protests and riots on Tuesday highlighted the need for reform.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt is now clear to growing millions in this country that we\u2019re living under two-tier policing,\u201d Farage said, drawing audible outrage and shouts from his opponents in Parliament. \u201cThe instructions that are given to police officers from police bosses are clear and written down in ink. It says you must treat different ethnic groups in different ways. That, apart from the upset and the anger at the circumstances of his death, the anger that you saw spilling out in Southampton last night.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWhich is in danger of getting considerably worse,\u201d he continued after the interruptions, prompting further interruptions. \u201cIf the public loses trust in being treated fairly by the police. Can he take some action to end this divisive practice of two-tier policing, and make sure that all British citizens are treated the same?\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">X served as a major outlet for rage against the British police and government, with statements by the police and government drawing viral and overwhelmingly negative responses. A major refrain from commentators was to echo variations of \u201cI don\u2019t think you have, mate,\u201d the response of one of the officers captured in bodycam footage after the dying Nowak said he had been stabbed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOne of your officers has been receiving death threats? I don\u2019t think he has, mate,\u201d one user <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/alfred_rex1\/status\/2061840947952988501?s=20\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/x.com\/alfred_rex1\/status\/2061840947952988501?s=20\">said<\/a> in response to a statement from Hampshire Police, garnering nearly 44 times more likes than the statement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/opinion\/3281497\/united-kingdom-grooming-gangs-authorities-failed-suppressed-truth\/\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/opinion\/3281497\/united-kingdom-grooming-gangs-authorities-failed-suppressed-truth\/\">THE UNITED KINGDOM\u2019S GROOMING GANGS<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c\u2018Police are getting bricks thrown at their heads!\u2019 \u2018I don\u2019t think they are mate,\u2019\u201d another viral <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/ZoomerHistorian\/status\/2061899115789787227?s=20\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/x.com\/ZoomerHistorian\/status\/2061899115789787227?s=20\">post<\/a> said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The protests and riots around the death of Nowak are the latest in a string of major demonstrations that have wracked the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/united-kingdom\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"547\">United Kingdom <\/a>since 2024, as the country comes to grips with the backlash to demographic change in the country from mass immigration. A running theme of frustrations from right-wing groups revolves around the perceived milquetoast police response to crime involving minority groups, particularly when directed against native white Britons.
