In Texas, Democrat Senate candidate James Talarico seems like a space alien who\u2019s trying to play a human on television.<\/p>\n<figure><\/figure>\n<p>The Democrats have elevated <em>terrible<\/em> candidates in a critical election year. <\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not a surprise. Finally allowing trans-focused legislation on puberty blockers and youth sports to reach the floor, she <a href=\"https:\/\/nebraskaexaminer.com\/2023\/03\/15\/nebraska-lawmaker-threatened-with-censure-for-comparing-legislation-with-genocide\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">warned<\/a> that the votes would be preserved in the legislative record: \u201cI want the bloody hands recorded. While political identity becomes more likely to split by sex, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.huffpost.com\/entry\/katie-miller-liberal-mental-health_l_6a189e0ae4b0457678e9b8a6\">second attribute<\/a> in party choice becomes more interesting. <\/p>\n<p>A 2020 Pew Research survey question looking at women between the ages of 18 and 29 \u201cfound that 56.3% of white liberal women in that age group answered yes when asked if a doctor had ever diagnosed them with a mental health condition.\u201d Meanwhile:<\/p>\n<figure><\/figure>\n<p>The other groups disappear in that screenshot because they\u2019re so much lower on the chart.<\/p>\n<p>Christopher Rufo and Joshua Slocum have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.city-journal.org\/article\/the-cluster-b-society\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">described<\/a> the <a href=\"https:\/\/disaffectedpod.substack.com\/\">emergence <\/a>of a \u201cCluster B society,\u201d centered on a cluster of personality disorders that lead to \u201cfrenzy, moral theatrics, emotional volatility, self-indulgence, and outbursts of violence.\u201d Helen Andrews has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.compactmag.com\/article\/the-great-feminization\/\">described<\/a> the \u201cGreat Feminization,\u201d in which the things we think of as wokeness are just the transition from male-run to female-dominated institutions. <\/p>\n<p>They\u2019re fishing in the same pond. We increasingly have a competition between a \u201cmaking arguments\u201d politics and a culturally feminized \u201cdisplaying feelings\u201d politics, with an undercurrent of status signaling in the latter category. Democrats are just <a href=\"https:\/\/newrepublic.com\/article\/205401\/awful-protest-trump-white-urban-women\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">AWFUL<\/a>. And they know it.<\/p>\n<figure>\n<p><span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Democrats test new strategies to win over young male voters\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/XVesCUa20JA?feature=oembed&#038;enablejsapi=1\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><\/span> <\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>So they went looking for someone in Maine who could <em>seem<\/em> \u201cworking-class dude,\u201d and in Texas put out a casting call for someone who could <em>seem<\/em> sort of religiousy and reassuringly pastorish, doing some God-sounding stuff for the cameras. Here\u2019s the Bangor Daily News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bangordailynews.com\/2025\/08\/23\/politics\/elections\/unions-found-susan-collins-challenger-oysterman-graham-platner-joam40zk0w\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">on the work<\/a> to find the Democrat to challenge Republican Sen. Susan Collins in Maine: \u201cIt was part of a union effort to find a Democrat who can appeal to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-signals-support-for-amazon-workers-vote-to-unionize\/\" title=\"Biden Signals Support For Amazon Workers\u2019 Vote To Unionize\">working-class voters<\/a> the party has shed over the past decade.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>They went appeal-shopping. What do <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >working-class voters find appealing<\/a>? Uh\u2026forearm tattoos and a hooded sweatshirt? We found one! (The press is here, can we have it drink a beer?)<\/p>\n<p>The crazy lady party went looking for bodies that could seem to occupy the category of \u201cnormal man,\u201d which is like asking a halibut to pick the most ordinary grizzly bear. The one category doesn\u2019t know the other category, more or less by definition. <\/p>\n<p>Democrats are trying to find men who can <em>seem<\/em> the most: seem like a pastor, seem like a working man.
