With Trump\u2019s support, Evette likely becomes the front-runner, but whether the endorsement can propel her to outright victory remains to be seen. Polling has not shown much daylight between the top contenders.<\/p>\n<div class=\"article-paywall\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Despite the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/president\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"1113\">president<\/a> weighing in, <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/republicans\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"240\">Republicans<\/a> are sticking out the brutal primary to the end. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Norman moved forward with his <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/campaign\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"801\">campaign<\/a> Monday, nearly a week before the June 9 primary.\u00a0He announced state Rep. Adam Morgan, a member of the state Legislature\u2019s Freedom Caucus, as his running mate and dubbed them the \u201cfreedom caucus ticket.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAdam has spent his career fighting the career politicians in Columbia, standing up for taxpayers, taking on special interests, and refusing to back down from the woke left or tax-and-spend RINOs,\u201d Norman <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/RalphNorman\/status\/2061449025858253115?s=20\">wrote on X<\/a>. \u201cTogether, we\u2019re building what may be the most conservative ticket this state has ever seen!!\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The crowded primary could advance to a runoff election, scheduled for June 23, if none of the six candidates receive an outright majority among Republican voters early next month. Mace has also decided to remain in the race, despite the presidential snub.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI will not change my positions,\u201d Mace <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/NancyMace\/status\/2060511572993184008?s=20\">wrote on X last week<\/a>. \u201cI will not abandon my principles. And I will never stop demanding accountability from institutions that have failed South Carolina, and our nation, regardless of the political cost.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Wilson also said he would stay in the race.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Several Republican incumbents this cycle remained in primaries even as Trump endorsed another candidate. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Trump-backed primary challengers dealt decisive losses to Sens. <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/bill-cassidy\/\">Bill Cassidy<\/a> (R-LA), <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/john-cornyn\/\">John Cornyn<\/a> (R-TX), and Rep.
