Meanwhile, a poll published Thursday by Emerson College showed Rubio erasing the 32-point lead Vance held in February over the prospective 2028 GOP field.<\/p>\n<div class=\"article-paywall\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, three senior Republican strategists maintain that <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/white-house\/4574815\/vance-cant-say-if-iran-negotiating-in-good-faith\/\">Vance<\/a>\u2019s own slate of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trump-seeks-more-donations-by-offering-free-trip-to-his-1st-post-presidency-rally\/\" title=\"Trump Seeks More Donations by Offering Free Trip to His 1st Post...Presidency Rally\">campaign-style events<\/a> is lending him one major leg up on Rubio should both vie for the presidency.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOther than the president, he\u2019s obviously the best messenger to send out on the road in a very tight cycle,\u201d one former Trump campaign staffer told the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em>. \u201c[Republicans] absolutely have to hang on to at least chamber, otherwise say goodbye to doing anything legislatively for the next two years \u2014 not to mention dealing with all of the impeachment bulls**t you know Democrats are going to try to do. But I do think just getting out on the road, going to swing states, that can only boost his own brand for whenever he ends up running for president. Will it be in 2028? I don\u2019t know, but he\u2019s putting in the legwork now that he\u2019ll need down the line.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another Trump campaign veteran said that Rubio \u201cshot up the polls by wooing people in Washington and foreign dignitaries,\u201d but that those people don\u2019t \u201cdecide Republican primaries.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cVance, on the other hand, is literally out with the people,\u201d the staffer said. \u201cHe\u2019s got to catch up on more than a decade\u2019s worth of political experience and facetime with the public, and while he certainly has a vested interest in making sure Republicans win in November, you\u2019d be a fool to deny the value he\u2019s getting out of being on the road right now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since last January, the vice president has visited 32 states, only 15 fewer than former Vice President Kamala Harris logged during her four years in office. Of the seven recent battleground states \u2014 Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin \u2014 all but Wisconsin have seen Vance grace their borders on multiple occasions since he entered the White House.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This year alone, Vance has already rallied in Toledo, Ohio; Rocky Mount, North Carolina; Auburn Hills, Michigan; Des Moines, Iowa; Bangor, Maine; and Kansas City, Missouri. Most of these troops have been to congressional districts Republicans are trying to hold or flip in November.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Vance is also helping raise money for Republican campaign coffers. The vice president is serving as the Republican National Committee\u2019s finance chair this cycle and has personally headlined fundraisers in Florida, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Texas. Vance\u2019s efforts have led to the RNC entering the summer with roughly $125 million in on-hand cash, according to persons familiar, which they\u2019ll pair with Trump\u2019s own $300 million war chest. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">RNC chairman Joe Gruters told the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em> that \u201cJD has raised a record amount of money for a vice president and a big part of that is how close donors know he is to the president.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHe\u2019s not tasked with ceremonial things; it\u2019s real work, he\u2019s a real confidant of the president\u2019s,\u201d he wrote in a statement. \u201cThat\u2019s why they keep smashing fundraising records together.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Beyond the direct campaigning, Vance has appeared across the country looking, \u201cquite frankly, very presidential,\u201d one anti-Trump Republican operative told the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em>.
