The House previously passed a 45-day \u201cclean\u201d extension, but talks continue over whether a longer extension is needed. Don Bacon (R-NE) said the fund was \u201cnot right.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/congressional\/4587052\/lauren-boebert-brushes-off-trump-attack-dumb\/\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/congressional\/4587052\/lauren-boebert-brushes-off-trump-attack-dumb\/\">LAUREN BOEBERT BRUSHES OFF TRUMP\u2019S ATTACKS CALLING HER \u2018DUMB\u2019<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While both chambers will be working quickly to get the party-line bill to the president\u2019s desk, there is another deadline quickly approaching: the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/fisa\/\">Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act<\/a>.\u00a0Both FISA and the funding bill have widened the split between the House and Senate.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The House passed the Senate\u2019s 45-day clean extension of FISA last month. Yet, negotiations are ongoing for what a longer extension would entail. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This week, the House is also likely to bring up a war powers resolution to force President Donald Trump to end hostilities with Iran. A vote was expected to take place before the break, but GOP leadership <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/4578913\/house-pulls-iran-war-powers-vote-before-memorial-day-recess\/\">punted<\/a> because of absences. The measure has a good chance of passing for the first time after two <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/house-pulls-iran-war-powers-vote-ahead-of-memorial-day-recess\/\" title=\"... pulls Iran war powers vote ahead of ...\">prior war powers resolutions<\/a> came down to Rep. Jared Golden (D-ME), who was the only Democratic \u201cno\u201d vote. But last month, Golden signaled he would support limiting Trump\u2019s authority to wage war when the vote came up again.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On top of all those bills, Democrats and centrist Republicans are planning to force tough votes on Ukraine funding and labor regulations using discharge petitions. The parliamentary procedure bypasses the committee process and forces legislation directly to the floor for a vote after receiving support from 218 lawmakers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/4584828\/massie-fishing-trip-mtg\/\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/4584828\/massie-fishing-trip-mtg\/\">MASSIE GOES ON FISHING TRIP WITH MTG AFTER LOSING KENTUCKY PRIMARY ELECTION<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One discharge petition will force a vote on sending $1.3 billion in aid to <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/ukraine\/\">Ukraine<\/a> and instituting new sanctions on <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/russia\/\">Russia<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The second discharge petition would force a vote on the Faster Labor Contracts Act.
