Now, it appears that some of those antics have landed him in some potentially hot water with the law. <\/p>\n<p>Numerous media outlets <a href=\"https:\/\/www.declassified.live\/p\/media-caught-in-another-lie\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a> on Wednesday and Thursday that residential crazy lady <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/tag\/e-jean-carroll\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">E. Jean Carroll<\/a> is under federal investigation to determine whether she committed perjury in testimony related to her <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/05\/09\/e-jean-carrolls-original-claims-about-trump-were-absurd-but-that-didnt-stop-the-media-from-amplifying-them\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">civil lawsuits<\/a> against President Donald Trump. As <a href=\"https:\/\/edition.cnn.com\/2026\/05\/27\/politics\/exclusive-justice-department-launched-e-jean-carroll-investigation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">described<\/a> by CNN, federal prosecutors\u2019 alleged theory \u201chinges on a 2022 deposition statement by Carroll, 82, that she received no outside funding for her lawsuit, though it was later revealed that billionaire Reid Hoffman had paid some legal fees and expenses.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-1502103138\" class=\"d-flex justify-content-center fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2 fdrlst__b89e9-entity-placement\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1463670073398-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The media and other Democrats quickly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.declassified.live\/p\/media-caught-in-another-lie\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">rushed<\/a> to attack the Trump administration for supposedly probing Carroll, whom they portrayed as a hapless victim being further victimized by Bad Orange Man. As it turns out, however, it\u2019s Hoffman\u2019s nonprofit, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/non-profit\/american-future-republic\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">American Future Republic<\/a>, that is <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/justice-department-trump-carroll-columnist-ec802c40674fabeefab4dd8ed51aa4b6\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reportedly<\/a> under <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/julie_kelly2\/status\/2060135413201698934?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">investigation<\/a> for its role in funding Carroll\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/06\/18\/e-jean-carroll-recounts-her-trump-rape-allegations-in-hilarious-new-book\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">frivolous<\/a> get-Trump lawfare.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMS NOW is reporting that a probe based in a federal prosecutor\u2019s office in Chicago has been described as investigating Jean Carroll but is currently focused on Reid Hoffman and considering some possible charges of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/reid-hoffman-stands-by-smartmatic-amid-latest-bribery-charges\/\" title=\"... Stands By Smartmatic Amid Latest Bribery Charges\">money laundering connected<\/a> to his financial support towards Carroll\u2019s legal fees,\u201d CNBC <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/video\/2026\/05\/28\/linkedin-co-founder-reid-hoffman-targeted-in-federal-money-laundering-probe-ms-now.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a> Thursday evening. <\/p>\n<p>Per the <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/democrats\/fake-news-group-that-targeted-tillis-funded-by-dem-megadonor-reid-hoffman\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Washington Free Beacon<\/a>, tax filings show that Hoffman\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/lincoln-project-paid-companies-tied-to-leaders-washington-examiner\/\" title=\"Lincoln Project paid companies tied to leaders ... Washington Examiner\">group paid approximately  million<\/a> to the firm of Carroll\u2019s lawyer as part of her legal crusade against Trump. The Trump legal team \u201cclaimed Hoffman\u2019s support damaged Carroll\u2019s credibility,\u201d according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/non-profit\/american-future-republic\/#note-2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">InfluenceWatch<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Hoffman\u2019s backing of Carroll\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2024\/01\/27\/15-facts-about-e-jean-carrolls-allegations-against-trump-media-dont-want-you-know\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">truth-challenged<\/a> lawfare against Trump is hardly the only left-wing venture he\u2019s taken up to attack the president, however. <\/p>\n<p>As The Federalist previously <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2020\/12\/22\/tech-billionaire-reid-hoffman-funded-legal-firm-for-spygate-linchpin-fusion-gps\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a>, the LinkedIn co-founder played a role in funding a legal nonprofit that defended <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/tag\/fusion-gps\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Fusion GPS<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/04\/15\/unsealed-crossfire-hurricane-docs-further-prove-russiagate-was-a-hoax-all-along\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">opposition research firm<\/a> \u201cbehind the famously discredited Christopher Steele dossier at the heart of the Russia [collusion] hoax.\u201d He\u2019s also been all but forced to apologize for <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/07\/09\/dem-donor-who-funded-election-disinfo-lawfare-is-backing-lawsuit-to-silence-election-journalism\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">financially boosting<\/a> a \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2018\/12\/26\/us\/reid-hoffman-alabama-election-disinformation.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Russia-style<\/a>\u201d disinformation operation in Alabama\u2019s 2017 Senate race that sought to sway the election for the Democrat candidate. <\/p>\n<p><strong>[REPORT:[REPORT:<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/07\/15\/report-days-before-assassination-attempt-leftist-billionaire-wished-hed-made-trump-an-actual-martyr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Days Before Assassination Attempt, Leftist Billionaire Wished He\u2019d Made Trump An \u2018Actual Martyr\u2019<\/a>]<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/08\/06\/democrats-sudden-obsession-with-jeffrey-epstein-is-an-opportunistic-ploy-to-bash-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Jeffrey Epstein-linked<\/a> Hoffman\u2019s antics in the legal field additionally include <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/08\/06\/reid-hoffman-stands-by-smartmatic-amid-latest-bribery-charges-after-gifting-firm-25m-to-fight-election-reporting\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">backing<\/a> Smartmatic amid its lawsuit against Fox News for its 2020 election reporting.
