They argue the deal-signed after an RNC lawsuit alleging the North Carolina State Board of Elections failed to remove foreign nationals before the 2024 presidential election-requires the elections board to follow a 2023 state law by using jury duty records to identify people who said they were not U.S. citizens and then removing those individuals from voter registration lists.<\/p>\n<p>Wake County Superior court Judge jennifer Bedford approved the agreement despite objections from attorneys associated with groups opposing aspects of the process, including concerns about how juror disqualification information for noncitizens is posted online and whether that creates privacy issues.<\/p>\n<p>The article also notes that multiple states already use jury-related lists for voter roll maintenance, and it references a stalled federal proposal (the ACE Act) that would require federal courts to notify states when noncitizens are excused from jury duty so voter rolls can be updated. The latter is a Raleigh-based liberal get-out-the-vote organization that issues non-governmental identification to noncitizens unable to obtain official ID, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/non-profit\/el-pueblo-inc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">according to<\/a> nonprofit tracker InfluenceWatch. The activists sought to intervene in the lawsuit because they oppose a provision in the law that requires the posting of juror disqualification information about noncitizens on the Board of Elections\u2019 website. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe understand the law requires certain information be public record, but it did not specifically require that this information be publicized on the internet in this manner,\u201d attorney Narendra Ghosh argued during the brief court session last week, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carolinajournal.com\/judge-accepts-gop-elections-board-deal-on-noncitizen-voter-removal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">according to<\/a> The Carolina Journal. She claimed that the law raises privacy concerns that could have a \u201cchilling effect.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>The North Carolina General Assembly passed the law in 2023. In 2024, the RNC filed a public-records request to determine whether the State Elections Board was complying with the new law. The board did not respond, according to party. After the RNC filed the lawsuit, the board relented and agreed to use the jury information from county clerks to remove noncitizens from North Carolina\u2019s voter rolls. <\/p>\n<p>Seventeen states have laws or policies in place that require the use of jury lists for voter roll maintenance, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncsl.org\/elections-and-campaigns\/list-maintenance-and-removing-noncitizens-from-voter-lists\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">according to<\/a> the National Conference of State Legislatures. <\/p>\n<p>A bill <a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/118th-congress\/house-bill\/4563\/all-actions?overview=closed#tabs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">stalled<\/a> in Congress \u2014 the <a href=\"https:\/\/republicans-cha.house.gov\/_cache\/files\/9\/0\/90449ace-89bf-4933-993a-9cfe354745c1\/8F100A860B25A1523B67089CDAEAAF259E84D084DEAD55B97CDCB042FA343AB9.ace-act-bill-summary.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">American Confidence in Elections (ACE) Act<\/a> \u2014 would require federal courts to \u201cnotify the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/house-dems-pass-massive-voting-rights-bill-conservatives-claim-it-will-chill-speech-demolish-election-integrity\/\" title=\"House Dems Pass Massive\u00a0\u2018Voting Rights\u2019 ...; Conservatives Claim It Will Chill Speech, Demolish\u00a0...\">chief state election official<\/a> and attorney general when non-citizens are excused from jury duty so that States may update their voter rolls.\u201d The bill also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/its-happening-pennsylvania-state-legislature-files-resolution-disputes-statewide-2020-election-results\/\" title=\"It&#039;s Happening: Pennsylvania State Legislature Files Resolution -- DISPUTES STATEWIDE 2020 ELECTION RESULTS\">requires election officials<\/a> to coordinate their voter rolls with federal court jury lists.<\/p>\n<p>The RNC\u2019s Gruters recently announced a multimillion-dollar election integrity campaign in advance of the November midterms. He told Fox News Digital that the Election Integrity unit will hire directors in 17 states to recruit an army of poll workers, poll watchers and election observers. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cPresident Trump made it clear in 2024: secure our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/politics\/elections\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">elections<\/a> \u2014 and we haven\u2019t let up since,\u201d Gruters <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/rnc-launches-multimillion-dollar-election-integrity-push-17-states-ahead-midterms\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a> in a statement to Fox News Digital. \u201cWe\u2019re building a ground game across the country with poll workers, poll watchers and lawyers to protect every legal ballot.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That ground game, always important, will be absolutely essential now that the feckless Republican-controlled Senate <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/05\/13\/john-failure-is-not-an-option-thune-just-failed-election-integrity\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">apparently has given up<\/a> on passing the <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/05\/13\/john-failure-is-not-an-option-thune-just-failed-election-integrity\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">SAVE America Act.<\/a> The extremely popular election integrity bill requires documentary proof of U.S. citizenship to register to vote and photo identification to cast a ballot in federal elections.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>      Matt Kittle is a senior elections correspondent for The Federalist.
