A 68-year-old man, Larry James Simpson, previously sentenced to life plus 40 years for first-degree murder, is facing new charges after a shooting and carjacking spree in Maryland. Police say that on Friday he carjacked two vehicles and allegedly fired at people across multiple locations, injuring two and involving multiple attempted murders.<\/p>\n

According to reports,Simpson is expected to appear in Prince George\u2019s County court Monday. authorities say he faces dozens of charges,including many counts of attempted murder. Court records cited in the reporting also say he was released sometime after a health evaluation, and that he had criminal convictions related<\/a> to the 1987 murder, including robbery with a deadly weapon and assault.<\/p>\n

Police reportedly found an AR-15-style rifle near the scene of his arrest, and the investigation is ongoing. <\/p>\n
