A witness testified in the trial of two Florida men accused of killing a Coral Springs-Parkland firefighter in 2019. Cheyenne Papach said she was at Lauderdale-by-the-Sea that night with the suspects and her then-boyfriend, Marco rico, but that she and Rico were on the beach while Torrey Holston and Jose Romero were elsewhere.<\/p>\n

Papach testified that Holston had a gun and that she later heard the suspects had robbed the victim-taking items including an iPhone and the victim\u2019s shoes.She said the group returned<\/a> to get the phone password<\/a> and that when Christopher Randazzo was on the ground and not coherent, Holston claimed he shot him. According to the testimony, Holston appeared pleased afterward, allegedly saying he \u201ccaught a body,\u201d smiling, and expressing disbelief about it.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors allege the men stole $55 and the victim\u2019s red Nike sneakers, wallet, and iPhone. Detective testimony on Monday, as described in the reporting, indicated DNA evidence from the victim\u2019s body linked the suspects. Rico previously pleaded guilty in 2020 as an accessory after the fact and to conspiracy charges<\/a> for driving the vehicle used to flee. <\/p>\n
