return false;\" title=\"Printer Friendly, PDF &#038; Email\"><span id=\"printfriendly-text2\" class=\"pf-button-text\"><i class=\"mdi mdi-printer\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/i><\/span><\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n<p>The House Judiciary Committee subpoenaed the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) after the organization failed to produce documents tied to allegations that it paid members of the KKK and other extremist groups using donor money intended to combat those very organizations. <\/p>\n<p>The subpoena \u2014 reviewed by The Federalist \u2014 requests the SPLC turn over any and all documents and communications between any SPLC employee and \u201cfield source\u201d that was paid by the SPLC.<\/p>\n<div id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-2570969791\" class=\"d-flex justify-content-center fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2 fdrlst__b89e9-entity-placement\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1463670073398-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The SPLC was indicted by a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/missouri-man-charged-with-threatening-to-murder-2-us-congressmen\/\" title=\"Missouri Man Charged With Threatening to Murder 2 US Congressmen\">federal grand jury<\/a> last month for wire fraud and conspiracy to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/democrat-henry-cuellar-releases-statement-after-being-indicted-on-federal-charges\/\" title=\"Henry Cuellar, a Democrat, Issues Statement Post Federal Charges Indictment\">commit concealment money laundering<\/a>. The SPLC allegedly used millions of dollars it received through donations to pay \u201ca covert network of individuals\u201d that were a part of \u201cviolent extremists groups\u201d like the KKK. Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/opa\/pr\/federal-grand-jury-charges-southern-poverty-law-center-wire-fraud-false-statements-and\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said in a statement<\/a> that the SPLC was \u201cmanufacturing racism to justify its existence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The organization allegedly did not disclose to its donors that \u201csome of their donated money was being used to fund the leaders and organizers of racist groups at the same time that the SPLC was denouncing the same groups on its website,\u201d a press released from the Department of Justice states.<\/p>\n<p>The House Judiciary Committee previously requested documents from the SPLC, according to a May 20 <a href=\"https:\/\/judiciary.house.gov\/sites\/evo-subsites\/republicans-judiciary.house.gov\/files\/evo-media-document\/2026-05-20-jdj-to-splc-fair-re-subpoena.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">letter<\/a>. But the SPLC failed to provide a single requested document and \u201cmisrepresented both the timeline and purpose of the Committee\u2019s oversight.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAccordingly, the Committee is initiating compulsory process to obtain the documents and material needed to fulfill its oversight and legislative obligations,\u201d the letter continues. The subpoena compels document production by June 3.<\/p>\n<p>The subpoena also requests any documentation or communication between the SPLC and the Department of Justice, FBI, or other executive branch agency for the duration of the Biden administration. <\/p>\n<p>Notably, the Biden administration\u2019s Department of Justice and FBI were both aware that the SPLC was paying \u201cinformants\u201d in the KKK, former Associate Attorney General in the Biden administration Vanita Gupta <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/05\/07\/biden-doj-was-in-cahoots-with-splc-as-it-funded-extremist-groups-former-official-admits\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">disclosed<\/a> during a recent virtual press conference.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/why-this-average-american-is-voting-for-donald-trump\/\" title=\"Why This Average American Is Voting for Donald Trump\">judiciary committee<\/a> also invited SPLC Interim President Bryan Fair to testify on June 9. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe hearing will examine the role that the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) has played in distorting civil rights policy in recent years.
