Trump has argued that MacDonough is biased, citing her decision that White House security funding-such as money tied to an under-construction ballroom-didn\u2019t meet reconciliation requirements and couldn\u2019t be insulated from a filibuster.<\/p>\n<p>Senior Republicans, including Susan Collins and Chuck grassley, say they won\u2019t support firing her, arguing she applies Senate rules fairly and that her rulings reflect what was (and wasn\u2019t) achievable under reconciliation during the Biden era. Those provisions included immigration reform and raising the minimum wage, among others.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think the best answer to that is that the parliamentarian has demonstrated in the Biden administration with their \u2026 reconciliations that they didn\u2019t get everything they wanted,\u201d Grassley said.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Sen. The problem is we maintain the filibuster,\u201d Johnson said. \u201cI\u2019m always looking for root causes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trump <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/senate\/4573787\/trump-vents-thune-ballroom-security-funding-setback\/\">vented privately<\/a> on Monday in a call with Senate Majority Leader\u00a0John Thune\u00a0(R-SD) about MacDonough\u2019s ruling that could jeopardize $1 billion in White House security funding, including $220 million for his new East Wing ballroom.
