(AP Photo\/Joe Lamberti)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The primary highlighted two sharply different political approaches to taking Perry down.<\/p>\n<p>Stelson cast herself as a centrist Democrat who could appeal to independents and Republicans uncomfortable with Perry\u2019s loyalty to President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n<p>By contrast, Douglas leaned into a more progressive message, arguing that his political track record showed he could defeat entrenched, better-funded opponents in traditionally Republican territory. Douglas, a former pastor, helped Democrats gain control of Dauphin County government for the first time in more than 100 years after winning a county commissioner seat in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Douglas frequently compared that upset victory to his uphill battle in the primary race.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was out-fundraised, I was overlooked, and I was discounted,\u201d he told the <em>Pennsylvania Capital-Star<\/em>. \u201cAnd by out-fundraised, I mean out-fundraised by like 25-to-1. \u2026 It\u2019s very familiar territory for me to be the underdog again.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Stelson will enter the <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >high-stakes rematch backed<\/a> by a broad coalition that includes <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/josh-shapiro\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"5122\">Gov.
