It launched the \u201cOut of Bounds\u201d campaign to pressure major athletic programs that generate over $100 million annually, saying the same influence that builds these programs can help redirect them toward fairer political maps.<\/p>\n<p>The dispute comes amid a broader redistricting fight that began last summer after Texas passed a new congressional map and Democrats and Republicans escalated efforts to redraw district lines. The NAACP points to a recent Supreme Court ruling (Louisiana v.Callais) that gave states more adaptability in map-drawing and questioned race-based districting under the Voting rights Act, which it says has enabled \u201cextremist lawmakers\u201d to erode Black representation. The <em>Louisiana v. Callais<\/em> ruling established that states should be given more freedom to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/texas-democrats-plan-return-home-after-staging-out-of-state-rebellion-against-redistricting-efforts-washington-examiner\/\" title=\"... ... plan return home after staging out-of-state rebellion against ... efforts - Washington Examiner\">draw political maps<\/a> without <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trump-says-tennessee-next-to-redistrict-after-supreme-court-ruling\/\" title=\"Trump says Tennessee next to redistrict after ...\">prioritizing racial outcomes<\/a>.\u00a0It questioned the constitutionality of drawing up political boundaries based on race, weakening the 1965 Voting Rights Act, which some states had used to draw up majority-minority districts. <\/p>\n<p>When several states, such as Tennessee, moved to eliminate traditionally Democratic majority-minority districts, in light of the ruling, citing concerns about racial gerrymandering, some Democrats <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/state\/4566472\/tennessee-democrats-protest-new-map-stripped-committee-assignments\/\">attacked the position<\/a> as racist and a return to the Jim Crow era. <\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/state\/4556389\/gop-democrats-gerrymander-targets-supreme-court-ruling\/\"><strong>RED OR BLUE?
