Dhillon of the DOJ\u2019s Civil Rights Division said in a <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/opa\/pr\/california-woman-federally-charged-paying-individuals-including-homeless-people-las-skid-row\">statement<\/a>. \u201cThis Justice Department is committed to ensuring that all U.S. elections are fair and free from illegal meddling \u2014 so that all Americans can accept the results with confidence.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"article-paywall\">\n<p>According to her plea agreement, Armstrong periodically worked in a \u201cpetition circulation\u201d role for roughly two decades and was paid by individuals and entities to collect voter signatures on official petitions for California state ballots, the DOJ said.
