So, it was no surprise when the \u201cparty of democracy\u201d immediately used its humiliating redistricting loss in Virginia as part of its ongoing war against the U.S. Supreme Court. <\/p>\n<p>The vicious onslaught began on Friday after SCOTUS <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/ShawnFleetwood\/status\/2055418167262875944?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">rejected<\/a> Virginia Democrats\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/05\/12\/democrats-ask-scotus-to-classify-virginias-45-day-election-as-a-single-day-event\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">application<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/05\/14\/scotus-could-do-the-funniest-thing-and-mandate-a-single-election-day-at-jay-jones-request\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">to<\/a> block a ruling by the Virginia Supreme Court that <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/05\/08\/virginia-supreme-court-strikes-down-democrat-gerrymander\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">found<\/a> their extreme gerrymandering referendum to be unconstitutional. As a result, the commonwealth will use its current six Democrat-five Republican congressional map for the 2026 midterms rather than the 10 Democrat-one Republican map proposed by state Democrats. <\/p>\n<div id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-2373786707\" class=\"d-flex justify-content-center fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2 fdrlst__b89e9-entity-placement\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1463670073398-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Virginia\u2019s request for SCOTUS to intervene in the matter was always considered a <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/KenCuccinelli\/status\/2053939348693733658?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><span style=\"background-color: rgba(34, 113, 177, 0.192);\">long s<\/span>hot<\/a>. As <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/AssocAnderson\/status\/2055425663545594090?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">court<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/kylamb8\/status\/2056232894348062839?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">observers<\/a> have <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/BasedMikeLee\/status\/2055492149136007516?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">pointed out<\/a>, the case dealt with violations of the Virginia Constitution and is a matter of state law \u2014 not federal.<\/p>\n<p>But that didn\u2019t matter to Democrats, who quickly used the high court\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.supremecourt.gov\/orders\/courtorders\/051526zr_1a72.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">unanimous rejection<\/a> of the commonwealth\u2019s request to continue their vilification campaign against the body\u2019s conservative justices. <\/p>\n<p>Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/GovernorVA\/status\/2055445238835970418?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">accused<\/a> SCOTUS and the Virginia Supreme Court of \u201cnullify[ing] an election and the votes of more than three million Virginians\u201d by upholding the rule of law. <\/p>\n<p>Virginia attorney general and assassination enthusiast Jay Jones similarly <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/AGJayJones\/status\/2055474713120448906?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">claimed<\/a> the SCOVA ruling \u201coverturned the results of a lawful election and erased the will of millions of Virginia voters.\u201d He also said, \u201cToday\u2019s one-sentence denial from the Supreme Court of the United States is yet another profoundly troubling example of the continued national attack on voting rights and the rule of law by Donald Trump, Republican state legislatures, and conservative courts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Both Democrats conveniently omitted the fact that state Democrats <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/04\/28\/to-virginia-supreme-court-democrats-lawyer-admits-gerrymandering-vote-is-irrelevant\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">asked<\/a> the Virginia Supreme Court to issue its ruling on the referendum <em>after<\/em> the election. <\/p>\n<p>U.S. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/RepJeffries\/status\/2055618604746285087?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wrote<\/a> on X that \u201cthe American people will decide who controls Congress in November\u201d and \u201cnot far-right extremists on the Supreme Court.\u201d Effectively lying by omission, the New York Democrat declined to mention that the Supreme Court\u2019s three Democrat appointees did not dissent from the high court\u2019s rejection of Virginia\u2019s application.<\/p>\n<p>In response to The New York Times saying that \u201cthe Supreme Court does not ordinarily review rulings of <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >state supreme courts interpreting state constitutions<\/a>,\u201d left-wing columnist Seth Abramson seemingly <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/SethAbramson\/status\/2055470002719875128?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">attempted<\/a> to compare the Virginia redistricting case to the Supreme Court\u2019s <em>Bush v. Gore<\/em> decision involving the 2000 presidential election to attack the high court\u2019s conservative justices.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBush v. Gore would like a word, NYT[.] SCOTUS conservatives will step in *instantaneously* if a state supreme court goes even a hair too left for them,\u201d Abramson wrote, ignoring the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oyez.org\/cases\/2000\/00-949\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">federal questions<\/a> at issue in <em>Bush v. Gore<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Leftists\u2019 latest arrows against the conservative justices come as part of a broader Democrat-led mission to undermine and destroy the Supreme Court. This campaign has most recently included Democrat calls to pack the high court with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/kamala-harris-condemns-d-c-demonstrators-despite-past-encouragement-of-violent-blm-mobs\/\" title=\"Kamala Harris condemns D.C. demonstrators despite past encouragement of violent BLM mobs\">left-wing activists<\/a> once their party retakes control of the federal government. <\/p>\n<p>Among those to telegraph support for such a radical proposal are former vice president and 2028 presidential frontrunner <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/05\/14\/dem-frontrunner-floats-packing-scotus-nuking-electoral-college-as-2028-platform\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Kamala Harris<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/05\/01\/dems-revive-court-packing-threats-after-being-told-they-cant-do-racist-gerrymandering\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Jeffries<\/a>, Arizona Sen. <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/05\/12\/any-vote-for-democrats-is-now-a-vote-for-their-plan-to-overthrow-scotus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ruben Gallego, and others<\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\">\n<div class=\"article-author-description fst-italic\">      Shawn Fleetwood is a staff writer for The Federalist and a graduate of the University of Mary Washington.
