Thomas Massie in a new Quantus insights poll of Kentucky\u2019s 4th District Republican primary. The poll-taken May 11-12 from 908 likely GOP voters-shows Gallrein at 48.3% versus Massie at 43.1%, with 7.6% undecided (most of them leaning toward Gallrein). While Massie still has a strong base, especially among Republicans who like his autonomous approach, the poll suggests Gallrein\u2019s Trump-backed momentum and outside support give him an advantage heading into early voting, which begins Thursday.  <\/p>\n<p>The article also notes this is the first poll to put Gallrein ahead, contrasting with earlier surveys that had Massie leading by single digits. Just 7.6% of polled voters remained undecided, with the majority of those undecided voters leaning toward Gallrein. The pollster reported that while \u201cthe race remains competitive,\u201d their survey \u201cpoints to a clear advantage for Gallrein.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"article-paywall\">\n<p>\u201cMassie continues to hold a durable base of support, especially among Republicans drawn to his independent brand and willingness to break with party leadership,\u201d the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1tPpV6wr8K43rL8v583xGjhevfQH3iXTT\/view\">poll analysis<\/a> reads. \u201cBut in a primary shaped heavily by Trump\u2019s endorsement, national attention, and outside spending, Gallrein\u2019s lead on both the initial ballot and leaner allocation shows the Trump-backed challenger in the stronger position entering the final stretch.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The survey, taken between May 11 and 12, is the first poll to show Gallrein in the lead, as other surveys had shown Massie up <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/polls\/kentucky-us-house-4-polls-2026.html\">by single digits<\/a>. The trend does not bode well for Massie, who has won every primary challenge since entering Congress with over 70% of the vote.<\/p>\n<p>This week has trended in a bad direction for Massie, with news breaking late Tuesday that Massie\u2019s former girlfriend <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/4565984\/ex-girlfriend-cynthia-west-thomas-massie-offering-cash-drop-complaint-against-ally\/\">accused him of offering her cash<\/a> to drop a wrongful termination complaint against Massie ally Rep. Victoria Spartz (R-IN).
