The measure cleared the House judiciary subcommittee Tuesday on a 3-2 vote and now goes to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/flashback-senator-joe-biden-supported-a-constitutional-amendment-to-allow-states-to-overturn-roe-v-wade\/\" title=\"Flashback: Senator Joe Biden Supported A Constitutional Amendment To Allow States To Overturn Roe V. Wade\">full judiciary committee<\/a>; if approved by the legislature and upheld by courts, it could allow a Republican to flip the seat.<\/p>\n<p>Attorney General Alan Wilson, Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette, and President Donald Trump all backed the effort, framing it as building \u201cfair, constitutional\u201d districts and urging momentum. Trump warned against Democrats\u2019 \u201cgerrymandering\u201d and \u201ccensus rigging,\u201d while SC leaders called for lawmakers to redraw maps \u201cby any means necessary.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The push comes after a U.S. Supreme Court decision in *Louisiana v.Callais*, which gave states more versatility to redraw maps without <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trump-says-tennessee-next-to-redistrict-after-supreme-court-ruling\/\" title=\"Trump says Tennessee next to redistrict after ... ruling\">prioritizing racial outcomes<\/a>, weakening protections for majority-black districts. Republicans now aim to change South Carolina\u2019s majority-minority 6th district, which Clyburn has held for more than three decades, arguing their goal is to remove the state\u2019s only Democratic House district. Pamela Evette <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/PamelaEvette\/status\/2054217618332999773\">responded to <\/a>Trump\u2019s redistricting push by telling lawmakers to\u201d immediately redraw our congressional districts by any means necessary to produce fair, constitutional maps.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Their words come after Trump on Monday evening told the Palmetto State he was \u201cwatching closely\u201d the outcome of Tuesday\u2019s \u201cbig vote.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey have to stop the Radical Left Democrats from destroying our Country, including leveling the playing field against their decades of egregious Gerrymandering and Census Rigging,\u201d the president said <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/posts\/116558478762586433\">in a post <\/a>to Truth Social. \u201cSouth Carolina Republicans: BE BOLD AND COURAGEOUS.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>The 6th district, which Republicans are looking to redraw, is South Carolina\u2019s only majority-minority seat. The GOP eyed the seat, which Clyburn has held for over three decades,\u00a0for redistricting in response to the Supreme Court\u2019s recent ruling that pushed back on racial gerrymandering and protections for majority-black districts. <\/p>\n<p>In <em>Louisiana v. Callais<\/em>, the majority said states should have greater freedom to redraw political maps without prioritizing racial outcomes, marking a setback for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/shocking-wrong-democrats-fume-after-supreme-court-sides-with-republicans-on-voting-map-issue\/\" title=\"\u2018Shocking\u2019 \u2018Wrong\u2019: ... Sides With ...ublicans On Voting Map Issue\">race-based districting<\/a>.\u00a0The decision triggered pushes from several red states, including Mississippi and Georgia, to eliminate and <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >redraw race-based districts<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In South Carolina, Clyburn <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/ClyburnSC06\/status\/2052472307361226901\">has condemned <\/a>Republicans for looking to redraw his seat, and give the GOP a boost, arguing their singular goal is to \u201celiminate the state\u2019s only Democratic House district that is occupied by a Democrat.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis fight is bigger than one district,\u201d Clyburn said <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/ClyburnSC06\/status\/2052472310242607461\">last week<\/a>. \u201cIt\u2019s about whether our democracy belongs to the people, or to politicians who change the rules when they don\u2019t like the results.
