The transcript focuses on Jordan Fuchs, Raffensperger\u2019s deputy chief of staff, who allegedly recorded the call while in Florida (a two-party consent state). Testimony indicates she later received use immunity to testify to a grand jury, after which she reportedly leaked the call to The Washington Post.<\/p>\n<p>The article argues that the media coverage and subsequent political actions depended on fabricated or misquoted interpretations of Trump\u2019s remarks, pointing to the Post\u2019s later correction. It also mentions that some Republicans faced obstacles in Georgia\u2019s election investigations, including a reluctance by officials to pursue alleged wrongdoing in Fulton County, tied to testimony relayed by former Sen. David Perdue.  <\/p>\n<p>the piece says additional details about the recording and related decisions-such as attempts to prevent Fuchs from testifying before the January 6 committee-were already reported in a 2024 book and are now corroborated by the released transcript.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Newly released depositions in Georgia confirm Federalist reporting that Democrats\u2019 attempt to imprison President Donald Trump for his 2020 election challenge in the state was based on a misinterpreted and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/taylor-swifts-feud-with-star-explodes-huge-change-on-social-media-follows-new-album-release-report\/\" title=\"Taylor Swift&#039;s Clash with Celeb Intensifies, Sparks Major Shift on Social Platforms Post Album Launch: Report\">illegally recorded phone call<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>For years, Democrats and the propaganda press claimed President Donald Trump had asked Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger to steal the election, and further claimed their allegations were supported by a Jan. 2, 2021, phone call between the two men. In fact, Trump asked Raffensperger to take seriously the legal challenge that his campaign had made, which cited numerous areas where votes were in question. The call became the foundation for an impeachment effort and for Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis\u2019 since-discredited and dismissed racketeering case against Trump and his allies.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >newly released testimony transcript confirms<\/a> what The Federalist\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/03\/07\/new-book-admits-fani-willis-get-trump-investigation-began-with-illegal-recording\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mollie Hemingway reported<\/a> in 2024: The call wasn\u2019t just misconstrued, it was illegally recorded by Raffensperger\u2019s \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.documentcloud.org\/documents\/28100413-jordan-fuchs-excerpt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">second in command<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jordan Fuchs \u2014 Raffensperger\u2019s deputy chief of staff \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.documentcloud.org\/documents\/28100413-jordan-fuchs-excerpt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">admitted under oath<\/a> that she recorded the call while she was in Florida, a two-party consent state that requires all parties on a call to consent to a recording. <\/p>\n<p>During the deposition, special prosecutor Nathan Wade, who was also Fani Willis\u2019 lover, noted that Fuchs received \u201cuse immunity\u201d to testify before the grand jury, meaning she could admit what she had done without being prosecuted for any crime. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI recorded the phone call,\u201d Fuchs admitted to the grand jury, shortly before admitting she <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/trump-raffensperger-call-georgia-vote\/2021\/01\/03\/d45acb92-4dc4-11eb-bda4-615aaefd0555_story.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">immediately leaked<\/a> it to The Washington Post, which had won a Pulitzer Prize in 2018 for its role in perpetuating the lie that Trump stole the 2016 election by colluding with Russia.<\/p>\n<p>The call was the centerpiece of Democrats\u2019 and the propaganda press\u2019s \u201cGet Trump\u201d lawfare. Fuchs provided another <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/03\/16\/washington-post-accuses-trump-of-a-crime-based-on-fabricated-quotes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">leak<\/a> to The Washington Post about another phone call from Trump a few days later. The Post later admitted its source \u2014 Fuchs \u2014 had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/fbi-zeroes-in-on-new-york-governor-andrew-cuomo-aides-another-accuser-comes-forward-reports\/\" title=\"FBI Zeroes In On New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, Aides; Another Accuser Comes Forward: Reports\">provided false information<\/a> about that call.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Post misquoted Trump\u2019s comments on the call, based on information provided by a source. Trump did not tell the investigator to \u2018find the fraud\u2019 or say she would be \u2018a national hero\u2019 if she did so. Instead, Trump urged the investigator to scrutinize ballots in Fulton County, Ga., asserting she would find \u2018dishonesty\u2019 there. He also told her that she had \u2018the most important job in the country right now,&#8217;\u201d read <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/trump-call-georgia-investigator\/2021\/01\/09\/7a55c7fa-51cf-11eb-83e3-322644d82356_story.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Washington Post\u2019s correction<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSeveral other major media outlets \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/opinion\/audio-shows-the-media-got-the-trump-georgia-story-all-wrong\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">including NBC, ABC, USA Today, PBS, and CNN<\/a> \u2014 \u2018confirmed\u2019 the fabricated quotes from the <em>Post\u2019s <\/em>anonymous source by, get this, citing <em>their own anonymous sources<\/em>,\u201d Mark Hemingway <a href=\"https:\/\/thefdrlst.wpengine.com\/2021\/03\/16\/washington-post-accuses-trump-of-a-crime-based-on-fabricated-quotes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">explained<\/a>. House Democrats would go so far as to <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.house.gov\/billsthisweek\/20210111\/CRPT-117hrpt2.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">cite<\/a> the fake contents in their impeachment proceedings against Trump.<\/p>\n<p>Raffensperger\u2019s office and the media they leaked to made it seem as though Trump was asking Raffensperger to commit fraud or do something illegal. But as The Federalist\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/03\/17\/medias-entire-georgia-narrative-is-fraudulent-not-just-the-fabricated-trump-quotes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mollie Hemingway pointed out<\/a>, \u201cAnyone familiar with the lawsuit knew Trump was saying his team had <em>already<\/em> \u2018found\u2019 nearly 150,000 irregular or fraudulent votes and simply needed the secretary of state\u2019s office to agree \u2026 just that fewer than 10 percent of them were problematic.\u201d The provision of information from the secretary of state\u2019s office was sought in part because of the urgent timing issues in play. The court date the Trump team had secured for their legal challenge was Jan. 8, after Congress was scheduled to certify the Electoral College votes.<\/p>\n<p>As Mollie Hemingway further reported, Raffensperger\u2019s team \u201ckept asserting that Trump\u2019s figures were wrong. Trump\u2019s legal team kept asking Raffensperger to provide the state data and information that would enable them to see for themselves. For some reason, Raffensperger and his team have never been willing to share their data or reports.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Newly released <a href=\"https:\/\/www.documentcloud.org\/documents\/28100443-senator-david-perdue\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">testimony<\/a> from former Sen. David Perdue speaks to some of the problems faced by Republicans concerned about election administration in Georgia, including obstruction from state officials and legal dismissals of viable cases dealing with the many problems in Fulton County.<\/p>\n<p>Perdue relayed a phone call he had with Vic Reynolds, who was the head of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation at the time. According to Perdue, Reynolds had previously told him about compelling video evidence, testimony, and bank records suggesting improper ballot harvesting. However, \u201cWe\u2019re not going to investigate\u201d because \u201cI\u2019m a team player. If the governor doesn\u2019t want to investigate, we\u2019re not going to investigate.\u201d Perdue dryly noted that \u201cFor the record, subsequently he\u2019s been promoted to Superior Court Judge of Cobb County.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>The circumstances of Fuchs\u2019 recording of the phone call were detailed in a 2024 book, <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Find-Votes-Hard-Charging-Prosecutor-President\/dp\/B0CNKVQRM5\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Find Me the Votes: A Hard-Charging Georgia Prosecutor, a Rogue President, and the Plot to Steal an American Election<\/a><\/em>, by Mike Isikoff and Daniel Klaidman. At the time, Mollie Hemingway <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/03\/07\/new-book-admits-fani-willis-get-trump-investigation-began-with-illegal-recording\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a> on the book\u2019s bombshell revelation that Fuchs had illegally recorded the call.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFuchs has never talked publicly about her taping of the phone call; she learned, after the fact, that Florida where she was at the time is one of fifteen states that requires two-party consent for the taping of phone calls,\u201d the book reported. <\/p>\n<p>Isikoff and Klaidman went on to note that \u201cRaffensperger\u2019s office asked the January 6 committee not to call [Fuchs] as a witness for reasons the committee\u2019s lawyers assumed were due to her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trump-to-speak-at-cpac-in-dallas-in-july\/\" title=\"Trump to Speak at CPAC in Dallas in July\">potential legal exposure<\/a>.
