Federal prosecutors have brought criminal charges related to the March 2024 collapse of Baltimore\u2019s Francis Scott Key Bridge. The case targets Synergy Marine, the foreign company that operated the MV *Dali*, and also includes Technical Superintendent radhakrishnan Karthik Nair.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors allege the company and Nair participated in a conspiracy to defraud the United States by obstructing the investigation, making false statements<\/a>, and failing to warn the Coast Guard about a risky condition onboard. They further claim the vessel was operated using an unapproved fuel system that bypassed safety safeguards meant to prevent power loss, and that the ship experienced two blackouts within roughly ten hours-including shortly before striking the bridge. The charges include violations tied to federal maritime safety and environmental laws, such as the Clean Water Act and the Oil Pollution Act.<\/p>\n

The disaster killed six construction workers,shut down the Port of Baltimore for weeks,and caused significant environmental damage<\/a>. An indictment also alleges that Nair lied during the federal investigation. <\/p>\n
