Prosecutors alleged a loose wire triggered the first blackout, but modifications to the ship\u2019s fuel system prevented the vessel from properly recovering power after the outage.<\/p>\n<p>Adam Gustafson, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/facebook-oversight-board-member-joins-biden-doj\/\" title=\"Facebook Oversight Board Member Joins Biden DOJ\">principal deputy assistant attorney general<\/a>, Environment and Natural Resources Division, alleged the second outage \u201cprevented the <em>Dali<\/em> from being able to avoid the bridge\u201d and said Synergy \u201cknew about the improper use of the flushing pump on the <em>Dali<\/em> and on other Synergy vessels\u201d but \u201cwillfully failed to notify the Coast Guard of this hazardous condition.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>An indictment claimed the defendants relied on a flushing pump, which was not designed to automatically restart after a blackout, to supply fuel to generators.
