The talks will cover several major issues, including the Iran war, the situation around Taiwan, artificial intelligence, and the possibility of a new trade deal.

During the visit, Trump will take part in ceremonial events and multiple bilateral meetings with Xi, including a touring of the Temple of Heaven and official meals.

The article notes that the stakes have shifted as Trump and Xi last met after the U.S.and Israel began operation Epic Fury in late February, escalating the Iran conflict and affecting global energy markets. It also discusses how a trade agreement could benefit Trump-especially given the prior APEC “truce” on a U.S.-China trade war and the proposal to create joint trade/investment boards to manage relations.

On Iran, the piece highlights China’s role as a potential mediator amid attacks in the Strait of Hormuz, alongside Trump’s view that other countries should contribute and his recent tariff actions aimed at countries supplying weapons to Iran.

For Taiwan, Xi is expected to seek assurances from Trump, while U.S. leadership is shown as cautious about any change in policy. The article also describes growing pressure from U.S. senators for a major Taiwan weapons sale, with Trump saying he will discuss it with Xi, though a senior U.S. official indicates there is no new U.S. policy expected.

the article suggests Jimmy Lai-an imprisoned <a href="https://www.conservativenewsdaily.net/breaking-news/secy-pompeo-calls-for-release-of-chinese-citizen-journalist/" title="Secy. In late February, the United States and Israel launched Operation Epic Fury, which marked the start of the Iran war. The conflict has throttled the Strait of Hormuz, driving up global oil and gas prices.

Trump has feuded with European allies he deemed insufficiently supportive of the Middle Eastern conflict, including Pope Leo XIV, and seen his disapproval numbers rise.

The Supreme Court also struck down Trump’s use of the International Emergency Economic Powers Act to impose “Liberation Day” tariffs on most U.S. trade partners in February.

But the visit could help Trump if a trade deal with China is reached or if Xi commits to helping end the Iran war.
