Callais* weakened Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act. He criticized the ruling for rolling back protections that allowed redistricting by race and for enabling a shift he likened too the Jim Crow era.<\/p>\n<p>Jeffries argued that addressing the \u201cstructural problems\u201d will require nationwide reforms, including judicial, electoral, and campaign finance changes, and also efforts to pass the John Robert Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act. He also renewed calls to end the effects of *Citizens United v. FEC*. Callais <\/em>case<\/a>, weakening Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 by striking down a congressional map that created two <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/supreme-court-blocks-alabama-democrats-gerrymandered-map\/\" title=\"Supreme Court Blocks Alabama ...\u2019 Gerrymandered Map\">majority-black districts<\/a> in <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/Louisiana\/\">Louisiana<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The decision is the latest redistricting showdown, in which <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/republicans\/\">Republicans<\/a> and Democrats have been racing to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/democrats-seek-redistricting-changes-in-key-states-to-regain-house-majority\/\" title=\"... aim to alter redistricting in crucial states for ... majority recovery.\">redraw congressional maps<\/a> across the country ahead of the midterm elections that could change the party\u2019s majority in Congress, as Democrats are expected to retake control of the House. <\/p>\n<p>Jeffries warned it\u2019s going to take an \u201call-hands-on-deck effort\u201d to solve the \u201cstructural problems.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow, we\u2019re going to need nationwide judicial reform. We\u2019re going to need nationwide electoral reform,\u201d Jeffries said. \u201cWe\u2019re going to need <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >nationwide campaign finance reform<\/a>, which is why we have to take the House back, take the Senate back, keep pressing forward, and then, in 2028, take the presidency back as well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In addition to judicial reform, Jeffries shared his plans to address the \u201cstructural problems,\u201d including passage of the John Robert Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act and ending the<em> <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/supreme-court\/3285696\/citizens-united-15-years-later-drives-historic-dark-money-elections\/\">Citizens United v.
