A man who jumped a perimeter fence and entered teh runway at Denver International Airport was struck and killed by a Frontier Airlines plane during takeoff. The flight from Denver to Los Angeles reported hitting a pedestrian shortly before 11:19 p.m., which led to an engine fire and a full evacuation of passengers. Frontier saeid flight 4345 aborted takeoff after smoke was reported in the cabin; it was unclear whether that smoke was directly connected to the collision. <\/p>\n

Passengers where evacuated using slides and transported to the terminal by emergency bus. Authorities reported minor injuries for 12 passengers and hospital care for five. The National Transportation Safety Board was notified, and runway 17L was closed during the investigation before reopening Saturday around 11 a.m.Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said the person intentionally breached airport security.
