The tapes are being sought publicly and by lawmakers as part of heightened scrutiny of biden\u2019s mental decline, following Special Counsel Robert Hur\u2019s 2024 finding that Biden\u2019s memory was \u201cfuzzy,\u201d \u201chazy,\u201d and \u201cpoor.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Biden\u2019s attorneys argue the recordings are not in the public interest and were provided on condition they not be made public. The audio stems from Hur\u2019s investigation into whether Biden mishandled classified facts after leaving the vice presidency, including whether he shared classified details with zwonitzer while they worked on Biden\u2019s memoir. It\u2019s about politics,\u201d he added. \u201cIf this Administration were genuinely committed to transparency, they would release Volume 2 of Special Counsel Jack Smith\u2019s report on Donald Trump\u2019s own alleged mishandling of classified documents. That report contains information Americans actually deserve to see.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The audio was initially obtained by investigators working with Hur, who was probing concerns that Biden mishandled classified information after he left the vice presidency in the Obama administration. Hur examined whether Biden shared classified information with Zwonitzer when the two were writing Biden\u2019s second memoir, <em>Promise Me, Dad<\/em>.
