Jackson* (which overturned *Roe v. Wade*), three liberal justices withheld their dissents for months even after a draft opinion leaked in May 2022.The piece says this <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >delay helped trigger intense leftist protests<\/a> and violence targeting pro-life groups and conservative justices, and it cites security threats and attempted assassination concerns near justice homes.<\/p>\n<p>It then says another Alito-authored decision, *Louisiana v. Callais*, which the court decided 6-3, was also ready long ago but released only late last month after additional delay attributed to Justice Elena Kagan. The article frames the case as ending race-based gerrymandering by requiring Louisiana to stop drawing maps in a way it claims was driven by partisan-leaning \u201cDemocrat political\u201d aims tied to Voting Rights Act Section 2.<\/p>\n<p>it discusses a lone dissent by justice Ketanji Brown Jackson that accuses the majority of partisan motives regarding timing. the article counters that the majority and Justice Alito reject her claim as \u201cgroundless,\u201d arguing the legal issue had already been argued and conference\u2019d months earlier. It concludes by asserting that corporate media largely avoids reporting these delays because doing so woudl undermine the public narrative about the Court\u2019s politics.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Supreme Court liberals\u2019 penchant for slow-walking major rulings isn\u2019t simply political, it has put in peril the lives of the conservative majority. <\/p>\n<p>As The Federalist\u2019s Mollie Hemingway uncovered in her New York Times best-selling <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Alito-Justice-Reshaped-Restored-Constitution\/dp\/1541607139\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">new book<\/a> on Justice Samuel Alito, the high court\u2019s three liberals long delayed the release of the <em>Dobbs v. Jackson<\/em> ruling reversing <em>Roe v. Wade<\/em>. They <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/04\/18\/explosive-report-as-dobbs-majority-faced-death-threats-liberal-justices-slow-walked-release\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">refused to deliver <\/a>their long overdue dissent for months, stone-walling even after their ideological allies at Politico <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/05\/03\/the-only-reason-to-leak-that-scotus-opinion-is-to-bully-justices-into-submission\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">leaked a draft<\/a> of the majority opinion in early May 2022. <\/p>\n<p>The unprecedented leak set off a wave of leftist protests and a literal firestorm of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/explosive-report-as-dobbs-majority-faced-death-threats-liberal-justices-slow-walked-release\/\" title=\"Report: ... Slow-Walked Dobbs Release\">pro-abortion-led violence<\/a>. Six days later \u2014 on Mother\u2019s Day \u2014 a radical who was eventually arrested thanks to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/dna-burrito-used-to-charge-hridindu-sankar-roychowdhury-firebombing-anti-abortion-office-wisconsin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">half-eaten burrito<\/a> firebombed the Madison headquarters of <a href=\"https:\/\/wifamilyaction.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Wisconsin Family Action<\/a>, a Christian pro-life, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/nebraska-citys-fairness-ordinance-triggers-firestorm\/\" title=\"Nebraska City\u2019s \u2018Fairness Ordinance\u2019 Triggers Firestorm\">pro-family organization<\/a>.\u00a0The attacks on the right would keep coming. <\/p>\n<p>Protesters <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/news\/politics\/2022\/07\/02\/supreme-court-protests-home-abortion\/7796087001\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">lined<\/a> the streets and sidewalks outside the conservative justices\u2019 homes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlito asked the dissenters to make the completion of their dissents their priority because delay of the decision was a security threat,\u201d Hemingway, The Federalist\u2019s editor-in-chief writes in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Alito-Justice-Reshaped-Restored-Constitution\/dp\/1541607139\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Alito: The Justice Who Reshaped the Supreme Court and Restored the Constitution.<\/a> \u201cAbortion supporters had an incentive to kill one or more of the justices in the majority to change the outcome.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>One would-be assassin was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/opa\/pr\/nicholas-roske-sentenced-over-eight-years-prison-attempted-murder-supreme-court-justice\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">breathtakingly close<\/a> to completing his deadly errand at Justice Brett Kavanaugh\u2019s home. <\/p>\n<p>Justice Elena Kagan, an Obama nominee, seemed so hell-bent on stalling the ruling that ended nearly 50 years of bad law and nationalized abortion that she <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/04\/18\/explosive-report-as-dobbs-majority-faced-death-threats-liberal-justices-slow-walked-release\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">screamed at<\/a> fellow liberal Justice Stephen Breyer in his chambers, demanding he not give in to the majority\u2019s exhortations.  <\/p>\n<p>\u201cKagan remonstrated with Breyer not to accommodate the majority, screaming so loudly, observers noted, that the \u2018wall was shaking,\u2019\u201d Hemingway writes in the book. <\/p>\n<figure>\n<p><span><\/p>\n<blockquote data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<div lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\n<p>Liberal Justice Elena Kagan reportedly threw a HUGE temper tantrum over the publication of the Dobbs decision. <\/p>\n<p>She was screaming at Justice Breyer so loud that \u201cthe walls were shaking,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MZHemingway?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@mzhemingway<\/a> tells me.<\/p>\n<p>Despite threats to the lives of the conservative justices, Kagan was\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/DFFUxt1cvx\">pic.twitter.com\/DFFUxt1cvx<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u2014 Allie Beth Stuckey (@conservmillen) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/conservmillen\/status\/2047699216655364273?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 24, 2026<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><\/span> <\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<h2>\u2018They\u2019ve Had Nothing But Time\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>Now we learn Kagan and her liberal colleagues slow-walked another Alito-written opinion, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.supremecourt.gov\/opinions\/25pdf\/24-109_21o3.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Louisiana v. Callais<\/em><\/a>, which effectively put an end to Democrats\u2019 nakedly race-based gerrymandering. <\/p>\n<p>The case focused on a lawsuit led by the NAACP demanding Louisiana create a second <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/michael-barone-in-systemically-racist-america-lots-of-whites-vote-for-blacks\/\" title=\"Michael Barone: In \u201cSystemically Racist\u201d America, Lots of Whites Vote for Blacks\">majority-black congressional district<\/a>. What they were really after was forcing the red state to draw up another Democrat seat. Lower courts helped them do just that. The plaintiffs argued that just one majority-black district was a violation of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.archives.gov\/milestone-documents\/voting-rights-act\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act of 1965<\/a>.  <\/p>\n<p>As The American Spectator <a href=\"https:\/\/spectator.org\/the-left-is-melting-down-over-callais\/?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAc3J0YwZhcHBfaWQMMjU2MjgxMDQwNTU4AAEeYu14YKpMzV9LiOAvv90Y9MS8oXc3XkIZeUUY4YLb3myiNlbNX8XLswrI66w_aem_JS_7-5mqUMOi66RtI7LarQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">described<\/a> it, the section established \u201caffirmative action for black Democrat politicians.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis has not produced particularly outstanding results. And by that I mean the results it has produced have names. Like Hank Johnson, Sheila Jackson Lee, Frederica Wilson, Bennie Thompson, Maxine Waters, Dollar Bill Jefferson, Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick, Al Green, Cori Bush, and lots of others,\u201d The magazine\u2019s Scott McKay wrote. \u201cThe Congressional Black Caucus has been the repository of crooks, dopes, communists, and reprobates on a scale unmatched by any other, for the express reason that the districts producing the Star Wars cantina-scene cast of characters that make up that caucus are protected.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Alito and the majority agreed with Louisiana resident Phillip \u201cBert\u201d Callais and others who argued Louisiana\u2019s revised map \u201cis an unconstitutional racial gerrymander.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.supremecourt.gov\/opinions\/25pdf\/24-109_21o3.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">6-3 ruling<\/a> was ready long ago. The court had first heard oral arguments in Callais in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=1ERZDlo5PSs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">March 2025.<\/a> It was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.supremecourt.gov\/oral_arguments\/audio\/2025\/24-109_2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reheard in October<\/a>, and finally released late last month. <\/p>\n<figure>\n<p><span><\/p>\n<blockquote data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The delay in the release of Louisiana v. Calais is on Kagan, for dragging out publication of her dissent. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/8kTwM9jF1S\">https:\/\/t.co\/8kTwM9jF1S<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Andrew Branca Show (@TheBrancaShow) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TheBrancaShow\/status\/2050348279142154598?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 1, 2026<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><\/span> <\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Curiously, the long-delayed ruling, compliments again of the liberal wing of the Supreme Court, came out in the wake of Hemingway\u2019s book on Alito and revelations of the dangerous slow-walk on Dobbs. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo they\u2019ve had nothing but time on this. And I think it does confirm that reporting for this case that they were slow-walking,\u201d Hemingway told me on an upcoming episode of <em>The Federalist Radio Hour<\/em> podcast, slated for release on Tuesday. <\/p>\n<p>The motive is clear: drag out the release of Callais so state legislatures won\u2019t have time to redraw their maps. If the legislatures run out of time, that helps Democrats take back power, Hemingway said. She said Kagan is \u201cfar and away the most political\u201d of the liberal justices. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t even mean that in a bad way, necessarily. She comes from more of a Democrat political world and knows how to play politics,\u201d Hemingway said. \u201cUsually justices are awful about politics. They think they\u2019re good, but they\u2019re just awful. [Kagan] is actually pretty good about doing it and getting a desired outcome.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>\u2018Groundless and Utterly Irresponsible\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>Associate Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/supreme-courts-junior-justice-goes-solo-tear-trump-fights-put-her-odds-bench\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">lone dissent<\/a> attacking the conservative majority on procedural grounds laughably accuses the justices of having partisan motives. She unwittingly \u2014 as KBJ routinely does \u2014 exposed the partisan motives of the court\u2019s left wing. Jackson is upset about the timing of the release of the ruling, which wouldn\u2019t be advantageous to the Democrats\u2019 campaign to take back the House in this year\u2019s midterms. <\/p>\n<p>In a <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/FoxNews\/status\/2052024723664474340\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">rebuttal<\/a> criticizing Jackson\u2019s attack as \u201ca groundless and utterly irresponsible charge\u201d lacking restraint, Alito notes that the \u201cconstitutional question was argued and conferenced nearly seven months ago.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>The court could have released the ruling long before it did. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe decision comes out, the left is outraged they won\u2019t be able to artificially manufacture these racist gerrymanders and they\u2019re losing their minds. And so they try to appeal various aspects back to the court,\u201d Hemingway said of the stalling tactics leading up to the ruling.<\/p>\n<p>She said the other two liberal justices, Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor, were savvy enough not to throw a \u201chissy fit.\u201d Jackson was not. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cBecause she throws the hissy fit that is absolutely ungrounded by law or reality, it gives Justice Alito the opportunity to include a footnote saying, \u2018Uh, we conferenced this back in October.\u2019 The point-being, \u2018You all slow-walked this,\u2019\u201d Hemingway said. <\/p>\n<p>The Wall Street Journal \u2019s editorial board noted as much last week. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe footnote suggests some pique by Justice Alito about the Court\u2019s long gestation on Callais, and understandably so since Justice Jackson is accusing the majority of playing politics,\u201d the board <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/opinion\/louisiana-v-callais-samuel-alito-ketanji-brown-jackson-supreme-court-66708f73\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wrote<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>\u2018A Political Game\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>Not surprisingly, many <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/border-patrol-arrests-two-illegal-immigrants-from-yemen-on-fbi-terror-watch-list\/\" title=\"Border Patrol Arrests Two Illegal Immigrants From Yemen On FBI Terror Watch List\">corporate media outlets<\/a> have yet to report on the liberal justices\u2019 delay games and, in the case of <em>Dobbs<\/em>, the perils created in the waiting. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe know why they are not talking about it, which is that they are playing a political game and it would not help them politically to reveal how political the liberal justices are being,\u201d Hemingway said. <\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>      Matt Kittle is a senior elections correspondent for The Federalist.
