FBI agents in Boston recovered a 17th-century wooden reliquary urn that had been stolen from teh Church of San Michele Arcangelo di Cangiano in italy between 2012 and 2022. The urn was found through an antiques dealer relationship in the northeastern United States, where the dealer had purchased it from another dealer in Italy, and the owner has since relinquished it.<\/p>\n

The recovery followed a request from Italy\u2019s Ministry of Culture. the FBI says the urn is a critically important piece<\/a> of Italian religious and cultural history and that it\u2019s protected under Italian law due to Vatican-related agreements. The FBI Art Crime Team helped investigate and recover the item, which is expected to be returned to Italy at a ceremony in Rome soon. <\/p>\n
