Before the Court, my office clearly laid out both in filings and oral arguments that this constitutional amendment process and voter ratification occurred in a timely, constitutionally-compliant, and legally sound manner.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Virginia Senate Majority Leader Scott Surovell (D) <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/ssurovell\">called on<\/a> Jones to continue the fight to get the redistricting effort approved.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday\u2019s decision by the Supreme Court of Virginia is, with respect, wrong on the law and unprecedented in its consequences,\u201d Surovell said. \u201cOur Supreme Court has set aside the results of a statewide election in which more than three million Virginians cast ballots and a majority voted to ratify a constitutional amendment. I expect the Commonwealth will pursue every available avenue of further review, and I will support those efforts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/republican-national-committee\/\">Republican National Committee<\/a> backed multiple legal challenges to Virginia\u2019s new redistricting referendum, arguing it violated the state constitution by pushing through a map giving Democrats a likely 10-1 congressional majority.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-jetpack-image-compare\">\n<div class=\"juxtapose\" data-mode=\"horizontal\"><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThe blood, sweat, and tears we have poured into this\u2026 it\u2019s a GREAT day to be a Republican,\u201d said Ally Triolo, the RNC election integrity communications director, <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/allytriolo\/status\/2052760944036491666\">on social media<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Former Republican Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin celebrated the decision with a warning, saying Virginians will not forget what Democrats did.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJustice has been served,\u201d Youngkin <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/GlennYoungkin\/status\/2052754158844096555\">wrote on X<\/a>. \u201cFrom the beginning, this was the most obvious violation of Virginia\u2019s Constitution. Abigail Spanberger and Democrats in Richmond knowingly violated our constitution to disenfranchise millions of Virginians. The Constitution prevailed, and Virginians will never forget this unlawful attempt to rob them of their voice in Congress.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gov.
