Comer noted he had not seen wrongdoing in email correspondence but said Lutnick\u2019s statements about being on the island may have been inaccurate, adding that the committee would release transcripts for scrutiny.<\/p>\n<p>Comer\u2019s remarks came before Lutnick testified as part of the committee\u2019s inquiry into Epstein. While Lutnick has denied having a relationship with Epstein and said he \u201cbarely had anything to do\u201d with him, the Justice Department\u2019s released Epstein files indicate Lutnick and his family briefly visited the island in 2012. Comer said many committee members wanted to hear lutnick\u2019s account directly and that he expects \u201csome more answers,\u201d including clarifying how long Lutnick was there and with whom.<\/p>\n<p>Comer also emphasized the investigation\u2019s bipartisan nature and said he is the first <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/michigan-senate-votes-to-subpoena-whitmer-admin-covid-19-nursing-home-policy-docs\/\" title=\"Michigan Senate Votes To Subpoena Whitmer Admin COVID-19 Nursing Home Policy Docs\">oversight chairman<\/a> to bring a Cabinet secretary of his own party to testify. Lutnick, Epstein\u2019s former neighbor in Manhattan, was mentioned in the Epstein files several times, but he has not been accused of any wrongdoing and has maintained that he has <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/senate\/4452417\/howard-lutnick-downplays-epstein-relations-senate-testimony\/\">\u201cbarely had anything to do with\u201d Epstein<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"article-paywall\">\n<p>\u201cI did not have any relationship with him,\u201d Lutnick <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/senate\/4452417\/howard-lutnick-downplays-epstein-relations-senate-testimony\/\">testified before the Senate<\/a> in February. \u201cI barely had anything to do with that person.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/epstein-files\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"17582\">Epstein files<\/a> released by the Department of Justice this winter <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/4450426\/massie-lutnick-resign-epstein-files-business\/\">revealed that<\/a> Lutnick and his family briefly visited Epstein\u2019s island in 2012, a point that Comer told reporters he would ask about during Wednesday\u2019s testimony. Comer said that \u201cmany of the members\u201d of his committee wanted to hear Lutnick\u2019s testimony.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ll add he\u2019s come in voluntarily, so I appreciate that,\u201d Comer said. \u201cSo, hopefully we\u2019ll have some more answers. We haven\u2019t talked to too many people that have admitted they\u2019ve been on the island. So it\u2019s my understanding, he wasn\u2019t on the island very long, and he was there with his wife and kids. Our goal is to provide justice for the victims, and hopefully today will be helpful.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The committee also ran closed-door depositions for former President <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/bill-clinton\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"703\">Bill Clinton<\/a> and his wife, former Secretary of State <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/hillary-clinton\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"8\">Hillary Clinton<\/a>, in late February.
