Federal authorities say the incident began on May 4, around 3:40 p.m., when a plainclothes Secret Service agent noticed Marx near the White House with what appeared to be a concealed firearm. As officers moved in, Marx allegedly opened fire, including shooting at one of the pursuing officers, and a civilian bystander was hit in the leg.<\/p>\n<p>officials report that officers returned fire, striking Marx in the hand, left arm, and upper abdomen. He was taken into custody at 15th Street and Independence Avenue SW and transported to George Washington University Hospital. A civilian standing behind the officer was struck in the leg.<\/p>\n<p>Officers returned fire, hitting Marx in the hand, left arm, and upper abdomen.<\/p>\n<p>Marx collapsed at the intersection of 15th Street and Independence Avenue SW, where officers took him into custody and rendered aid. He was identified through a Texas driver\u2019s license, and investigators say he also used aliases including Patrick Michael and Michael Zavici. <\/p>\n<p>He was transported to George Washington University Hospital.
