Greg Walker lost to Michelle Davis in the 41st district, and incumbent state Sen. Dan Dernulc (R) lost to Republican Trevor De Vries. Republican Brian Schmutzler defeated incumbent state Sen. Linda Rogers (R) in the 11th district.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIncumbent Sen. Greg Goode, who represents the 38th district, is the only incumbent, so far, that fended off a challenger supported by the president.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In a race pitting incumbent Republican Spencer Deery against challenger Paula Copenhaver, the candidates were separated by only three votes as of 8 a.m. Eastern Time on Wednesday, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/2026-primary-elections\/indiana-state-senate-district-23-results\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NBC News<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The takeaway is obvious.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Trump just made a powerful statement in Indiana \u2014 five Republican state senators who defied him on redistricting were ousted in Tuesday\u2019s primaries by his hand-picked challengers.<br \/> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/anIHQpehdL\">https:\/\/t.co\/anIHQpehdL<\/a><\/p>\n<p>(\ud83d\udcf8: AP) <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/m4aYA0QH2K\">pic.twitter.com\/m4aYA0QH2K<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 WTHR.com (@WTHRcom) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WTHRcom\/status\/2051980106688598337?\">May 6, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Congressional redistricting has gone from a dusty, once-a-decade discussion into the hottest topic in domestic politics these days because voters understand what the November midterms are going to mean to the future of the Trump presidency \u2014 and the future of the country.<\/p>\n<p>If Democrats take the House \u2014 and out-of<a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >-power parties rally historically<\/a> in midterm election years \u2014 Trump\u2019s closing years in the White House are likely to look similar to his first term when Democrats dogged him with fabulist conspiracies like \u201cRussia collusion\u201d and an impeachment effort so farcical even most Democrats probably don\u2019t remember what it was about.<\/p>\n<p>(Hint: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/hunter-biden-personally-involved-trump-impeachment-shocking-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Biden family corruption<\/a> in Ukraine had a lot to do with it.)<\/p>\n<p>If Republicans hold, there\u2019s a good chance Trump will have a chance in his final two years to continue the domestic and foreign policies that are aimed at restoring the national economy and American leadership in the world.<\/p>\n<p>In more than a decade since Trump entered national politics, Democrats have proven over and over again that they will go to any lengths to \u201cresist\u201d the change he represents \u2014 because it\u2019s a change that threatens their corrupt control over the American people.<\/p>\n<p>They\u2019ve shown \u2014 over and over \u2014 that when it comes to power in American politics, they\u2019re playing for keeps.<\/p>\n<p>Trump understands that.
