He warned that if Iran rejects it, the U.S. would resume bombing at a higher intensity than before.<\/p>\n<p>His comments followed indications of a possible breakthrough in talks, including a one-page memorandum of understanding reported to involve Iran pausing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/bidens-concessions-to-iran-not-unlimited-in-accordance-with-state-dept\/\" title=\"Biden\u2019s concessions to ... \u2018not unlimited,\u2019 in accordance with State Dept.\">nuclear enrichment<\/a> while both sides lift restrictions on shipping through the strait. The statement also came after Trump paused \u201cProject Freedom,\u201d a U.S. initiative escorting tankers through the Hormuz after Iran had threatened attacks on foreign forces approaching the strait. Iran later said safe passage might potentially be possible under new procedures.<\/p>\n<p>The war discussed began Feb.28 with U.S.-Israeli strikes tied to concerns about Iran\u2019s nuclear program. Trump later announced adn extended a ceasefire in April as negotiations continued. The agreement would reportedly involve Iran committing to a moratorium on nuclear enrichment, while both sides would lift restrictions on transit through the Strait of Hormuz. <\/p>\n<p>Project Freedom\u00a0refers to an initiative in which the U.S. began escorting oil tankers and other vessels out of the\u00a0Strait of Hormuz on Monday, protecting them from Iranian fire. Iran initially responded to Trump\u2019s initiative by promising that \u201cany foreign armed \u2060forces, especially the aggressive U.S. Army, will be attacked if they intend to approach and enter the Strait of Hormuz.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday, Iran\u2019s Navy said that safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz is possible under \u201cnew procedures\u201d after Trump paused Project Freedom. <\/p>\n<p>The war began on Feb. 28, when the U.S. and Israel launched joint strikes against Iran, due largely to concerns about the regime\u2019s nuclear program. The decision was made after the U.S. was told by Iranian leadership that it had enough enriched uranium to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/witkoff-iran-boasted-it-had-enough-fuel-for-11-nuclear-weapons\/\" title=\"Witkoff: ... boasted it had enough fuel for 11 nuclear weapons\">make 11 nuclear bombs<\/a> within 10 days, <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/trump-steve-witkoff-iran-enriched-uranium-11-nuclear-bombs\/\">according to <\/a>Trump\u2019s team. <\/p>\n<p>Trump announced a two-week ceasefire on April 7, and <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/defense\/4537517\/trump-extends-iran-ceasefire\/\">extended the truce again <\/a>on April 21, as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/could-the-war-between-ukraine-and-russia-be-over-in-two-weeks\/\" title=\"Could the War Between Ukraine and Russia be Over in Two Weeks?\">peace talks continued<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/defense\/4556000\/trump-administration-stretches-definition-iran-ceasefire\/\">TRUMP ADMINISTRATION STRETCHES DEFINITION OF A CEASEFIRE<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Secretary of State <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/marco-rubio\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"51\">Marco Rubio<\/a> said Tuesday that the war, known as Operation Epic Fury, <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/daily-on-defense\/4556730\/just-like-that-us-offensive-iran-over-operation-epic-fury-concluded\/\">is over, <\/a>and that the U.S. is engaged in strictly defensive operations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe operation is over,\u201d he told reporters. \u201cEpic Fury is \u2014 the president notified Congress we\u2019re done with that stage of it.
