This was before Musk began the process of purchasing the social media giant in April 2022.<\/p>\n<div class=\"article-paywall\">\n<p>The SEC alleged in its initial complaint that Musk\u2019s failure to disclose within 10 days of reaching the 5% threshold violated federal securities laws. The SEC said he filed 11 days after the report was due.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a result, Musk was able to continue purchasing shares at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/musk-calls-for-judge-to-dismiss-lawsuit-brought-by-x-shareholders-washington-examiner\/\" title=\"... calls for judge to dismiss ... brought by X shareholders - Washington Examiner\">artificially low prices<\/a>, allowing him to underpay by at least $150 million for shares he purchased after his beneficial ownership report was due,\u201d lawyers for the SEC wrote in the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/storage.courtlistener.com\/recap\/gov.uscourts.dcd.276446\/gov.uscourts.dcd.276446.1.0_1.pdf\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/storage.courtlistener.com\/recap\/gov.uscourts.dcd.276446\/gov.uscourts.dcd.276446.1.0_1.pdf\">January 2025 complaint<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In the settlement reached on Monday, Musk\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/gov-newsoms-in-laws-donated-to-gov-desantis\/\" title=\"Gov.
