It has to be, because <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbs.org\/newshour\/politics\/maine-democrat-platner-on-defense-over-tattoo-takes-page-from-trump-playbook-to-keep-up-senate-bid\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the timeline<\/a> is brutal.<\/p>\n<p>He kept that tattoo for roughly 18 years. It was only covered in 2025, conveniently, as his Senate ambitions were looking like a possibility.<\/p>\n<p>Reporters had tied the permanent mark to Nazi symbolism. The story blew up, and suddenly the man who wanted to represent Maine found himself answering questions about an emblem tied to some of history\u2019s most shocking atrocities.<\/p>\n<p>For a moment, it looked like Democrats might actually apply their own rules and cancel the dude.<\/p>\n<p>They didn\u2019t.<\/p>\n<p>Maine Gov. Janet Mills <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/video-clips\/5858933-chuck-schumer-maine-janet-mills-graham-platner-supreme-court-vra-whole-hog-live-discussion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">dropped out<\/a> of the race, clearing the way for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/senate-candidate-graham-platner-says-nazi-tattoo-strengthened-standing-democratic-primary\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Platner<\/a> to become the presumptive nominee. The <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >party closed ranks<\/a> almost overnight around him.<\/p>\n<p>Even <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/2026-election\/graham-platner-looks-unite-maine-democrats-presumptive-senate-nominee-rcna343047\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">recent coverage<\/a> from NBC News could not ignore the issue. One Democratic voter admitted plainly that Platner has \u201ca lot of baggage\u201d due to his apparent love for Nazis.<\/p>\n<p>Baggage is an understatement.<\/p>\n<p>Sure, people can change and become better. That is not the problem here.<\/p>\n<p>The problem is how the left has treated everyone else.<\/p>\n<p>For years, Republicans have been labeled extremists over far less than a Nazi tattoo. A benign policy position has always been enough to trigger outrage, headlines, and calls for someone to be driven out of public life.<\/p>\n<p>There is never any talk about growth or forgiveness when a conservative wants to enforce border laws. There is never any interest in intent when a person on the right says anything that can be construed as racist.<\/p>\n<p>Now, suddenly, Democrats want nuance? Accused of Encouraging &#039;Military Coup&#039; with Coordinated Message to Armed Services Personnel\">spent years setting<\/a> a standard it was never prepared to face in the mirror.<\/p>\n<p>These people told the country these issues were disqualifying, that President Donald Trump was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/trump-isnt-problem-dems-called-john-mccain-mitt-romney-racists-nazis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a fascist Nazi<\/a>, and that he should be expelled from polite society and imprisoned.<\/p>\n<p>Now, they are asking for a pass for the simple trade of a Senate seat?<\/p>\n<p>Democrats have spent years calling Trump and his supporters Nazis. Their rhetoric <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/cnn-admits-trump-suspect-parroted-mainstream-dem-hitler-rhetoric-radicalized-around-election\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">has inspired<\/a> would-be assassins.<\/p>\n<p>These people are almost always exactly who they purport to oppose.
