Early increases were blamed on **winter weather disrupting refinery operations**, but prices accelerated after the **Iran war began**. By early March the average had risen to **$2.98**, and by March 31 it reached **$4.02**. The highest point before Tuesday was around **$4.16** (April 9). The most affordable fuel prices are found in the South.
