Jeff Landry (R-LA) praised the ruling when speaking to reporters on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think that the Supreme Court has finally taken race out of redistricting,\u201d he said. \u201cI think that the Supreme Court is tired of the legal circus that\u2019s been going on in the federal courts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In an executive order Thursday, Landry directed lawmakers to move quickly to pass a new congressional map and set a revised election timeline. <\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-tennessee\">Tennessee<\/h2>\n<p>In Tennessee, Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), who is running for governor, called for immediate action to redraw the state\u2019s map.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI urge our state legislature to reconvene to redistrict another Republican seat in Memphis,\u201d she <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/VoteMarsha\/status\/2049515547910381782?s=20\">posted<\/a> on X. \u201cIt\u2019s essential to cement @realDonaldTrump\u2019s agenda and the Golden Age of America.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve vowed to keep Tennessee a red state, and as Governor, I\u2019ll do everything I can to make this map a reality,\u201d Blackburn added.<\/p>\n<p>Gov. Bill Lee (R-TN), who is term limited this year, announced on Thursday a special session of the state legislature to review the congressional map in light of the new ruling.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe owe it to Tennesseans to ensure our congressional districts accurately reflect the will of Tennessee voters,\u201d said Lee. <\/p>\n<p>President Donald Trump also weighed in, <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/posts\/116494706928688681\">saying he spoke with Lee<\/a> on Thursday and urged him to address what he described as flaws in the state\u2019s congressional map. Trump suggested changes could result in an additional Republican seat and encouraged Lee to move aggressively.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-mississippi\">Mississippi <\/h2>\n<p>Mississippi officials are preparing for a special session that could extend beyond its stated purpose.<\/p>\n<p>Gov. Tate Reeves (R-MS) has signaled lawmakers will convene 21 days after the Louisiana decision, landing on May 20. While the formal focus is on judicial districts facing legal challenges, Republican strategists say the session could expand to include congressional maps.<\/p>\n<p>One potential target is the 2nd Congressional District, a majority-black seat held by Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS), which could be redrawn in a way that creates an additional Republican-leaning district. Thompson\u2019s seat is the only one held by a Democrat in the entire Mississippi congressional delegation.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-florida\">Florida <\/h2>\n<p>In Florida, Republicans <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/congressional\/4547856\/florida-desantis-redistricting-map-four-seats\/\">were already moving ahead <\/a>with new congressional lines before the Supreme Court handed down its decision.<\/p>\n<p>A map backed by Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) cleared the legislature this week and is expected to tilt the state further toward the GOP by carving up Democratic-leaning districts in Tampa, Orlando, and along the southeast coast.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The proposed map of Florida\u2019s redistricting<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The plan could create up to four additional Republican-friendly seats.<\/p>\n<p>During debate, DeSantis\u2019s general counsel, David Axelman, argued that complying with <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >prior court mandates risked acknowledging<\/a> that race played a role in drawing districts, echoing legal arguments at the center of the Louisiana case.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-alabama\">Alabama <\/h2>\n<p>Alabama is now moving more aggressively in response to the ruling.<\/p>\n<p>Gov. Kay Ivey (R-AL) said Friday she will call a special legislative session aimed at redrawing the state\u2019s congressional maps, reversing her earlier position that she would wait for the courts to resolve litigation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBy calling the Legislature into a special session, I am ensuring Alabama is prepared should the courts act quickly enough to allow Alabama\u2019s previously drawn congressional and state senate maps to be used during this election cycle,\u201d Ivey said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>The move comes as the state remains entangled in a legal fight over its maps after courts required the creation of a second <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/michael-barone-in-systemically-racist-america-lots-of-whites-vote-for-blacks\/\" title=\"Michael Barone: In \u201cSystemically Racist... New Jersey Gov.
