Where does it say anything about fighting global <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/climate-change-reparations-melted-new-court-ruling-deep-blue-state\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">climate change<\/a>?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.epa.gov\/laws-regulations\/summary-clean-air-act\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">1970 Clean Air Act<\/a> authorizes the EPA to set air quality standards and reduce emissions of hazardous pollutants. That, however, was not the subject on which Zeldin exposed DeLauro\u2019s ignorance.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLoper Bright,\u201d he continued. \u201cSupreme Court case. You familiar with it?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.supremecourt.gov\/opinions\/23pdf\/22-451_7m58.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Loper Bright Enterprises et al. v. Raimondo, Secretary of Commerce, et al.<\/a> (2024), the Supreme Court <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/fishermen-forced-pay-700-per-day-government-mandated-observers-boats-get-big-news-scotus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">overturned<\/a> a 40-year precedent called the Chevron doctrine, which required federal judges to defer to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/gov-whitmer-media-caught-in-another-lie-anarchist-arrested-for-plot-to-kidnap-and-kill-whitmer-hates-president-trump-trump-is-a-tyrant-video\/\" title=\"Gov. Whitmer, Media Caught in Another Lie - Anarchist Arrested For Plot to Kidnap and Kill Whitmer Hates President Trump, &#039;Trump is a Tyrant&#039; (VIDEO)\">federal agencies<\/a>\u2019 statutory interpretations in cases where the statute in question did not clearly state Congress\u2019 intention.<\/p>\n<p>As a result, federal agencies like the EPA no longer enjoy the latitude they once did.<\/p>\n<p>Incredibly, DeLauro did not know that.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo,\u201d she admitted. \u201cMaybe others are. I\u2019m not. But let me ask you \u2014 .\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut that\u2019s really important,\u201d Zeldin interrupted. \u201cAs a member of Congress, Loper Bright says that we, as an agency, don\u2019t have the authority to get creative. If Section 202 of the Clean Air Act \u2014 .\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Then, a suddenly animated and likely embarrassed DeLauro interrupted the EPA administrator.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou do not have the right to say <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/milloy-al-gore-got-climate-wars-wrong\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">climate change<\/a> does not exist, that it\u2019s a hoax, and that\u2019s where this administration is coming from!\u201d the congresswoman yelled.<\/p>\n<p>But Zeldin handled the escalation in tone like a cool customer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI understand you\u2019re upset,\u201d he replied. \u201cYou don\u2019t know what Loper Bright is. Do you know what the major policies doctrine is?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.supremecourt.gov\/opinions\/21pdf\/20-1530_n758.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">West Virginia et al. v. Environmental Protection Agency<\/a> (2022), which SCOTUS called a \u201cmajor questions case,\u201d Chief Justice John Roberts, writing for the 6-3 majority, concluded that the EPA had claimed an \u201cunheralded power representing a transformative expansion of its regulatory authority in the vague language of a long-extant, but rarely used, statute designed as a gap filler,\u201d and that this dubious claim \u201callowed it to adopt a regulatory program that Congress had conspicuously declined to enact itself.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In other words, the major policies\/questions doctrine also precludes federal agencies from interpreting the extent of their own power.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m \u2013 I\u2019m upset because \u2026\u201d DeLauro stammered.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDo you know what the major policies doctrine is?\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/watch-zeldin-shows-us-inside-embarrassing-4-million-epa-museum-no-wonder-shut\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Zeldin<\/a> calmly asked again. \u201cYou\u2019re a member of Congress. You should know.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell you\u2019re, y-y-y-you have moved from someone who defended the environment to all of a sudden \u2014 \u201d the congresswoman stammered again, this time at an even higher volume and with more animation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou\u2019re being very defensive about not knowing the two biggest landmark Supreme Court cases of the last year with regards to your question,\u201d Zeldin calmly shot back.<\/p>\n<p>The EPA administrator then offered to explain those cases. But that offer practically made DeLauro\u2019s purple-colored head explode.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhoa!\u201d she yelled. \u201cYou know, you\u2019re here because you need money from us! So halt for the second! And wait for the questions! And answer the questions!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell, I answered your question,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/zeldin-drive-dagger-straight-heart-climate-change-religion-axing-landmark-obama-era-ruling\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Zeldin<\/a> replied. \u201cAnd you didn\u2019t like my answer, because you don\u2019t know what Loper Bright is, because you don\u2019t know what the major policies doctrine is.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The defeated-yet-unrepentant DeLauro then turned to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/senate-investigation-finds-obama-admin-was-knowingly-funding-an-al-qaeda-affiliate\/\" title=\"Senate Investigation Finds Obama Admin Was Knowingly Funding an Al-Qaeda Affiliate\">committee chairman<\/a> for help. Finding none, however, she continued to moan as Zeldin delivered his rhetorical beatdown.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou\u2019re asking me about Section 202 of the Clean Air Act, and you don\u2019t read it,\u201d he added. \u201cYou don\u2019t know what it says.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cListen, and what you want to do is to deny \u2014 you want to \u2014 \u201d DeLauro nonsensically replied.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo, I actually read the law,\u201d Zeldin said. \u201cI do my homework. You\u2019re just somebody who likes to have the microphone on. You know what have to I do? I read the law. I read the Supreme Court cases.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>DeLauro\u2019s head again nearly exploded. Again, she turned to the chair.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMr. Chairman, I don\u2019t have to listen to this!\u201d she insisted before threatening the EPA budget altogether.<\/p>\n<p>Before Republican Chairman Tom Cole of Oklahoma finally took control of the proceedings, Zeldin again reminded DeLauro of her ignorance regarding key <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/less-24-hours-scotus-ruling-red-state-begins-redistricting-process-see-gop-supermajority\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SCOTUS<\/a> decisions, to which the frazzled congresswoman replied that she did not have to listen to Zeldin\u2019s \u201cBS.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNothing infuriates an uninformed Congressional Dem more than when they realize they voluntarily triggered a debate with someone who actually knows what they are talking about, reads federal statute and adheres to Supreme Court precedent,\u201d Zeldin wrote on X. \u201cToday\u2019s self-implosion by @rosadelauro was quite remarkable to witness.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Nothing infuriates an uninformed Congressional Dem more than when they realize they voluntarily triggered a debate with someone who actually knows what they are talking about, reads federal statute and adheres to Supreme Court precedent.
