Callais* that limited the ability of states to use race in redistricting. The article argues the decision threatened Democrats\u2019 political leverage over majority-minority districting, prompting renewed court-packing talk among both mainstream Democratic figures and far-left groups.<\/p>\n<p>It cites House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries saying \u201ceverything is on the table\u201d to \u201cdeal with\u201d a court he calls a \u201ccorrupt MAGA majority,\u201d and points to similar statements from groups such as Demand Justice and individuals like Mehdi Hasan, who frame court expansion as necessary to overcome obstacles to progress. The piece also references Rashida Tlaib\u2019s calls for term limits,ethics enforcement,impeachment,and expanding the Court,along with broader media encouragement (e.g., The Bulwark) for SCOTUS expansion when Democrats retake power.<\/p>\n<p>it links these developments to earlier advocacy by strategist James Carville, who urged Democrats to expand the Court immediately on day one after regaining control-while suggesting candidates avoid openly campaigning on such ideas.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>In the name of \u201cnorms\u201d and \u201cdemocracy,\u201d radical Democrats are renewing calls to pack the U.S. Supreme Court should they regain control of the federal government. <\/p>\n<p>The wave of alarming threats came about after the high court handed down a ruling in <em>Louisiana v. Callais<\/em> on Wednesday that nuked states\u2019 ability to use race in the redistricting process. As The Federalist <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/04\/30\/resurrecting-jim-crow-democrats-melt-down-after-scotus-eviscerates-racial-gerrymandering\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a>, the decision effectively gives states leeway \u201cto <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/resurrecting-jim-crow-democrats-melt-down-after-scotus-eviscerates-racial-gerrymandering\/\" title=\"Dems Melt Down After SCOTUS Guts Racial Gerrymandering\">eliminate majority-minority districts<\/a> that were <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/08\/08\/upcoming-scotus-case-could-reshape-redistricting-as-we-know-it\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">carved out<\/a> under past interpretations of Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act \u2014 interpretations that benefited Democrats.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Clearly fearful it could jeopardize their political power, Democrats wasted no time in using the 6-3 decision \u2014 which fell along ideological lines \u2014 as an excuse to revive their threats to pack the Supreme Court with <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >left-wing ideologues<\/a> once given the reigns of Congress and the White House. Such threats were <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/tag\/court-packing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">widespread<\/a> during Joe Biden\u2019s presidency but <a href=\"https:\/\/capitalresearch.org\/article\/the-disappearing-court-packers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">conveniently became less common<\/a> once Donald Trump returned to office.<\/p>\n<p>While <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nj.com\/politics\/2026\/04\/top-dem-threatens-supreme-court-changes-after-shock-ruling-everything-on-the-table.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">attacking<\/a> the conservative justices\u2019 recognition that America has a colorblind Constitution, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Acyn\/status\/2049674513714151539?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">telegraphed<\/a> his willingness to embrace his party\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/as-democrats-move-to-pack-supreme-court-heres-some-of-bidens-past-comments-on-the-bonehead-idea\/\" title=\"As ... Move To Pack ..., Here\u2019s Some Of Biden\u2019s Past Comments On The \u2018Bonehead Idea\u2019\">court-packing plan<\/a> if handed the speaker\u2019s gavel. In a recent interview, he emphatically stated that \u201ceverything is on the table\u201d when it comes to \u201cdeal[ing] with\u201d a court that\u2019s ensuring adherence to the country\u2019s founding legal document. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Supreme Court is a disgrace. And then, in the new Congress, we\u2019re gonna have to do something about the Supreme Court,\u201d Jeffries said. \u201cAnd let me be very clear: Everything is on the table \u2014 everything \u2014 to deal with this corrupt MAGA majority that is issuing political opinions that are designed to bolster the prospects of the Republican Party. And we will not allow them to succeed.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>The far-left <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/04\/07\/unraveling-the-far-left-group-seeking-to-derail-future-republican-scotus-nominees\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Demand Justice<\/a> issued a similar veiled threat in apparent support of such efforts. President Josh Orton \u2014 who boasts a background in Democrat Party activism \u2014 issued a <a href=\"https:\/\/demandjustice.org\/statement-from-josh-orton-on-voting-rights-act\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">statement<\/a> following <em>Callais<\/em>\u2018 release, in which he smeared the Supreme Court for its decision and said it \u201cmust face fundamental reform if it is to once again serve our democracy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Demand Justice is notorious for its slanderous campaigns against Republican judicial nominees and past support for court-packing. The group also notably partook in the left\u2019s destructive efforts to keep Brett Kavanaugh off the Supreme Court, and recently <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/04\/07\/unraveling-the-far-left-group-seeking-to-derail-future-republican-scotus-nominees\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">disclosed plans<\/a> to block future Trump nominees to the high court should vacancies arise. <\/p>\n<p>Longtime media hack <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/tag\/mehdi-hasan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mehdi Hasan<\/a> was much more explicit in his calls to pack the Supreme Court with left-wingers who would forgo proper jurisprudence in favor of political activism on the bench. The paperwork American <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/mehdirhasan\/status\/2049502262620250116?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wrote<\/a> on X, \u201cIf the Democrats don\u2019t make rebalancing and expanding the Supreme Court a top priority for whenever (if?) they next get into power, then I don\u2019t know what to say anymore. The GOP-packed court is the biggest block on progress in this country and has been for a while.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/07\/10\/the-real-threat-isnt-settler-colonialism-its-settler-immigration\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">America-hating<\/a> Rep. <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/tag\/rashida-tlaib\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Rashida Tlaib<\/a>, D-Mich., took a break from <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/12\/01\/gop-led-house-expels-george-santos-but-not-terrorist-sympathizer-rashida-tlaib\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sympathizing with terrorists<\/a> to put out her own ill-conceived statement. Seemingly incapable of crafting a cogent argument, the congresswoman <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/RepRashida\/status\/2049834153525342541?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">tweeted<\/a>, \u201cTerm limits for the Supreme Court. Enforce a binding Code of Ethics. Impeach these corrupt justices. Expand the Court.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The left-wing rag known as The Bulwark ran an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thebulwark.com\/p\/maga-has-a-eugenics-gene?utm_source=twitter&#038;utm_medium=social&#038;utm_campaign=subs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">article<\/a> from one of its editors calling on Democrats to \u201cexpand\u201d SCOTUS once they retake power. <\/p>\n<p>These more recent calls come days after Democrat strategist James Carville <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/carville-tells-dems-quietly-prepare-power-grab-dc-puerto-rico-statehood-supreme-court-packing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">pressed<\/a> for his party to \u201cexpand the Supreme Court to 13\u201d on the first day they <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/california-to-introduce-amendment-to-make-abortion-a-state-constitutional-right\/\" title=\"California to Introduce Amendment to Make Abortion a State Constitutional Right\">regain total control<\/a> of Congress and the White House. He specifically advised Democrat candidates not to talk about such radical policies on the campaign trail. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf the Democrats win the presidency and both Houses of Congress, I think on day one, they should make Puerto Rico, D.C. a state, and they should expand the Supreme Court to 13. F-ck it, eat our dust,\u201d Carville <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/tomselliott\/status\/2046237082666868873?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a>. \u201cThe 2000 election, [Republicans] stole it; they\u2019ve stolen \u2026 Supreme Court seats; they\u2019ve gerrymandered everything that you can; and the only way to fight this is don\u2019t run on it [and] don\u2019t talk about it. Just do it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Carville seemingly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realclearpolitics.com\/video\/2026\/05\/01\/carville_if_you_combined_all_the_corruption_from_previous_administrations_it_still_wouldnt_add_up_to_how_corrupt_trump_is.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reaffirmed<\/a> his support for court-packing following the <em>Callais<\/em> decision\u2019s release.
