Thom Tillis on social media after Tillis questioned whether Martin is still employed by the DOJ. Martin also referenced past comments Tillis allegedly made about Ashli Babbitt, the woman shot and killed during the <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/jan-6-2\/\" type=\"post_tag\" id=\"11289\">Jan 6<\/a>, 2021, Capitol riot, before escalating rhetoric.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c@SenThomTillis: remember when you said Ashli Babbitt \u2018deserved it\u2019?\u201d Martin said. \u201cIn front of six witnesses, two of your staff.Deranged. Instead back to North Carolina, just go to Hell.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Martin also countered the guidelines Tillis dubbed after him, adding that the \u201cTillis standard\u201d means that \u201cMAGA doesn\u2019t forget losers!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In a separate, now-deleted post from his DOJ account, Martin accused Tillis of contacting him to intervene in a pardon case, suggesting the senator had sought to block clemency for a constituent.<\/p>\n<p>The clash highlights the long-running rift between Martin and Tillis dating back to May 2025, when Tillis helped derail Martin\u2019s bid to become the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-muscles-out-chicago-prosecutor-hot-on-the-heels-of-powerful-dems\/\" title=\"Biden Muscles Out Chicago Prosecutor Hot on the Heels of Powerful Dems\">top federal prosecutor<\/a> in the District of Columbia.
