Susan Collins (R-ME) told the <em>Washin<\/em>gton <em>Examiner<\/em> on Wednesday. \u201cSixty days is the endpoint for unilateral, non-congressionally approved military hostilities, except for winding down activities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) said Wednesday that he would prefer not to vote to authorize the war, as Trump is seeking an extended ceasefire and diplomatic accord with Tehran.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would really rather not ramp up a war effort that I think the president is trying to wind down, and I think he\u2019s right to wind down,\u201d Hawley said. \u201cThere\u2019s a number of certifications they can make, but they need to say something. So, hopefully they will.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, not all Republicans are cautious of Friday\u2019s deadline. Sen. <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/white-house\/4546389\/trump-sides-with-rand-paul-white-house-ballroom-bill\/\">Lindsey Graham<\/a> (R-SC), a <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >staunch foreign policy hawk<\/a>, told the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em> on Wednesday that if he were in the president\u2019s position, he would \u201ccompletely ignore\u201d the deadline.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve always thought that it\u2019s been unconstitutional,\u201d he told the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em> in an interview.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/white-house\/4548339\/trump-i-dont-know-if-iran-war-will-end-before-ukraine\/\"><strong>TRUMP: \u2018I DON\u2019T KNOW\u2019 IF IRAN WAR WILL END BEFORE UKRAINE<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em>Axios<\/em> reported late Wednesday that the president is slated to be briefed by Adm. Brad Cooper, the commander of U.S. Central Command, on Thursday regarding new proposed military actions in Iran.
