That Secret Service agent is expected to recover, the president reported during an impromptu late-night <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/live\/ZHN8xcAJUsc?si=gCOtwAfoAB-nkaKd\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">press conference<\/a> at the White House shortly after the incident.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe looked at all of the conditions that took place tonight. While beautiful, it has every <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trump-says-dinner-shooting-justifies-white-house-ballroom\/\" title=\"... says dinner shooting justifies ...\">highest level security feature<\/a> there is plus, there are no rooms sitting on top for unsecured people to pour in, and is inside the gates of the most secure building in the World, The White House.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, Trump praised what he envisioned as a \u201cmagnificent building\u201d to Fox News\u2019 Jacqui Heinrich during an <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/Bnjx5xyzWME?si=kSBEeZWKTtLq5K0J\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">interview<\/a> on \u201cThe Sunday Briefing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[I]t was also designed in conjunction with the military and in conjunction with Secret Service. It\u2019s got every single bell and whistle you can possibly have for security and safety \u2026 it\u2019s really what you need,\u201d Trump said. \u201cAnd this was designed at the highest level by the top military and Secret Service people. It\u2019s a joint venture, really \u2026 but [the] military and Secret Service have wanted it for many years and I\u2019m getting it built and the one good thing is that now everybody knows how badly needed it is.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The president\u2019s ambitions for a modernized East Wing ran into legal obstacles beginning in December 2025, when the National Trust for Historic Preservation in the United States filed a <a href=\"https:\/\/storage.courtlistener.com\/recap\/gov.uscourts.dcd.287645\/gov.uscourts.dcd.287645.1.0_4.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">lawsuit<\/a> over the demolition at the Executive Mansion and concerns Congress should have authorized the $400 million modernization effort.<\/p>\n<p>Though the 89,<a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >000-square-foot project\u2019<\/a>s design was eventually approved by two court-mandated federal review processes, Judge Richard Leon, an appointee of former President George W. Bush, ruled April 16 that only below-grade construction activities would be permitted without Congressional approval.<\/p>\n<p>Dismissing the Administration\u2019s argument that it was a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/bidens-natsec-adviser-casts-doubt-on-w-h-o-report-on-pandemic-origin-china-refuses-to-turn-over-data\/\" title=\"Biden\u2019s NatSec Adviser Casts Doubt On W.H.O. Report On Pandemic Origin: China Refuses To Turn Over Data\">national security priority<\/a> that the East Wing be completed according to Trump\u2019s intention, Leon <a href=\"https:\/\/storage.courtlistener.com\/recap\/gov.uscourts.dcd.287645\/gov.uscourts.dcd.287645.72.0_2.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">stated<\/a> \u201cnational security is not a blank check to proceed with otherwise unlawful activity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Trump administration immediately filed an <a href=\"https:\/\/storage.courtlistener.com\/recap\/gov.uscourts.cadc.42993\/gov.uscourts.cadc.42993.01208836318.0.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">appeal<\/a>, which was taken up by a three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit: Obama-appointee Patricia A. Millett, Biden-appointee Bradley N. A deadline for 9 a.m. Monday was specified in the letter, after which the government would \u201cmove to dissolve the injunction and dismiss the case.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPut simply, your client puts the lives of the President, his family, and his staff at grave risk.
