Lauren Boebert (R-CO) is set to introduce the **TRUMP Ballroom Act** to give Congress approval for President Donald trump to build a ballroom on White House grounds.The bill would authorize the president to **design and construct** the facility and give him **\u201csole\u201d approval authority** over it, without providing new funding (Trump has said private donors would pay).<\/p>\n<p>The proposal follows a legal fight over the project: the **National Trust for Historic Preservation** has argued congressional approval is required, and a judge has paused construction while the case proceeds. Boebert said she launched the effort after the **Saturday assassination attempt** involving the **White House Correspondents\u2019 Association** dinner, arguing that a secure adjacent event space is needed.<\/p>\n<p>Boebert\u2019s bill is one of several initiatives discussed in Congress to advance the ballroom. On the Senate side, Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Katie Britt (R-AL), and Eric Schmitt (R-MO) are backing legislation to appropriate at least $400 million to build the ballroom. <\/p>\n<p>Boebert\u2019s proposal would not authorize any additional funding for the ballroom, which Trump has stated would be funded by private donors. Trump appeared to signal support for a similar framework on the Senate side, floated by Sen.
