Until Democrats fully fund our security, their words are worthless.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to Jeffries and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), the very Secret Service agents who stopped Saturday\u2019s bloodbath are working without paychecks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s really important that law enforcement did their job,\u201d former Acting Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf agreed before <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/YWNReporter\/status\/2048417091825414503\">adding<\/a>, pointedly, \u201cAnd I\u2019ll just reiterate, Secret Service is part of the Department of Homeland Security, which remains unfunded at this day and time.<\/p>\n<p>And so, these agents and officers are doing their job despite the Democrats in Congress refusing to fund them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s outrageous,\u201d Rep. Scott Jennings <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/RNCResearch\/status\/2048415365563031792\">argued<\/a> on CNN Sunday. \u201cWe\u2019re not paying these guys. The [Democrats] who\u2019ve got [Homeland Security] shut down need to think long and hard about last night \u2026 [and] what that means to [an officer] who has to show up and take a bullet. Every American ought to be outraged by it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fury continued to pour in from GOP leaders, who\u2019ve tried for weeks \u2014 and failed \u2014 to reopen the agency tasked with U.S. security.<\/p>\n<p>Now, Republicans can\u2019t help but wonder if a shortage of resources might have led to the opening that madman Cole Allen exploited.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDemocrats have caused THE LONGEST GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN IN HISTORY,\u201d the speaker <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/SpeakerJohnson\/status\/2047703771870834971\">fumed<\/a>. \u201cDemocrats REFUSE to pay law enforcement for over TWO MONTHS because they want to reopen the border for criminal illegal aliens.<\/p>\n<p>Democrats\u2019 shutdown is not just DISTURBING \u2014 it\u2019s DANGEROUS. Protect American citizens. Fully fund DHS.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>To all the \u201canti-American Democrats,\u201d Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/SenTuberville\/status\/2048377804744425696\">declared<\/a>, \u201cit\u2019s time to get your head out of you\u2019re a** and fund our national law enforcement. ALL Americans deserve to live in safety and without fearing for their lives.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>One thing that should come of this nightmare, Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/news\/2026\/apr\/26\/todd-blanche-acting-ag-cites-dhs-funding-fight-criticize-congress\/\">stressed<\/a>, is the Democrats\u2019 cooperation in reopening the department.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI hope this is a wake-up call to Congress,\u201d he emphasized on Fox News Sunday. \u201cI hope this is a wake-up call that the games that they\u2019ve been playing, really with the lives of the men and women protecting them, should end.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Even the president, reflecting on the heroism of the night before, could only shake his head at the situation Schumer\u2019s party has created.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Secret Service and all law enforcement was \u2026 outstanding. They stopped him cold. And you just look at them. They were these strong, solid people who\u2019ve got to get paid. You know, this is a group that is not being paid. If you think about it, you know, the Democrats are holding up their pay.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After Saturday\u2019s incredibly close call, Schumer\u2019s party may be forced to the negotiating table on optics alone.<\/p>\n<p>Tired of waiting, Republicans had teed up a reconciliation bill to muscle the funding through on their own two days before the attack at the Washington Hilton happened.<\/p>\n<p>It was a last-ditch effort to break through the wall Democrats had built to protest ICE, despite how vulnerable it made the country.<\/p>\n<p>Johnson had expressed optimism on Saturday\u2019s \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/thisweekoncapitolhill.com\/down-to-the-wire-on-border-patrol-ice-funding\">This Week on Capitol Hill<\/a>\u201d that his caucus was \u201cfinally on the path to get [it] done.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But frankly, he argued, \u201cit\u2019s rather shocking that we\u2019re in this situation. The Department of Homeland Security is the third largest department of the federal government \u2014 with 10 agencies beneath it. And all of them are tasked with keeping America safe. It\u2019s gone unfunded because the Democrats are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/democrats-face-gun-legislation-dilemma-as-support-for-house-background-check-bill-breaks-down\/\" title=\"... Face Gun Legislation Dilemma as Support for House Background Check Bill Breaks Down\u00a0\">playing political games<\/a>. So we\u2019re going to have to do this on our own. It\u2019s shameful \u2026 but that\u2019s where we are.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Almost prophetically, the Speaker pointed out what a \u201cscary and dangerous\u201d situation the country was in. \u201cAnd the Democrats want to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/kamala-harris-plans-trip-to-guatemala-after-dismissing-requests-to-visit-southern-border\/\" title=\"Kamala Harris plans trip to Guatemala after dismissing requests to visit southern border\">play political games<\/a>.
