Allen worked for a tutoring firm in Torrance called C2 Education, <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/white-house-correspondents-dinner-shooting-suspect-cole-allen\/\">according to <\/a>CBS News, and <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/photo?fbid=1028494969321544&#038;set=a.619788420192203\">received<\/a> a \u201cTeacher of the Month\u201d award from the company in December 2024. <\/p>\n<p>He is said to have been a registered Democrat and appears to have donated $25 to former Vice President <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/kamala-harris\/\">Kamala Harris\u2019s<\/a> presidential campaign in 2024, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/financial-underdog-larry-hogan-trying-to-flip-blue-senate-seat-as-billionaire-democrat-has-given-his-own-campaign-41-million\/\" title=\"Larry Hogan, a financial underdog, aims to win a blue Senate seat as a billionaire Democrat injects  million into his own campaign\">federal campaign finance records<\/a>. Allen was also a member of a group called \u201cThe Wide Awakes,\u201d according to reports.<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday evening, FBI Director Kash Patel vowed to <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/RapidResponse47\/status\/2048240232449941967\">thoroughly probe<\/a> the suspect\u2019s background.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will be examining this individual\u2019s background thoroughly. (Donald Trump \/ Truth Social)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-motive\">Motive<\/h2>\n<p>Allen posted anti-Trump and anti-Christian content on social media, according to reports, with Trump saying Sunday that the suspect \u201chates Christians\u201d and that the attack was \u201ca religious thing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe guy is a sick guy when you read his manifesto,\u201d the president said. \u201cHe hates Christians, that\u2019s one thing for sure. \u2026 I think his sister or his brother actually was complaining about it to law enforcement.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Acting Attorney General <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/todd-blanche\/\">Todd Blanche<\/a> said earlier Sunday that Allen appeared to have been targeting Trump and other administration officials during an NBC News interview but cautioned that the investigation is ongoing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt does appear that he did in fact set out to target folks who work in the administration, likely including the president,\u201d Blanche said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re still investigating a motive, and that\u2019s something that will necessarily take a couple of days at least,\u201d he added. \u201cWe believe he was targeting administration officials in this attack, attempted attack, but that\u2019s, again, quite preliminary.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/white-house\/4543512\/terror-at-white-house-correspondents-dinner\/\"><strong>BOB CUSACK: INSIDE THE ROOM: TERROR AT THE WHITE HOUSE CORRESPONDENTS\u2019 DINNER<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Blanche said officials believe the suspect traveled by train from California to Chicago and then to Washington, where he checked in as a guest at the Washington Hilton that was hosting the dinner. Blanche has said it is unclear how the shooter was able to bring weapons into the hotel and that the suspect is not cooperating with authorities.<\/p>\n<p>When he was tackled at the dinner on Saturday evening, the\u00a0 shooter was armed with a shotgun, handgun, and multiple knives, according to interim chief of the Metropolitan Police Department, Jeff Carroll, who said it appears the gunman was \u201ca lone actor.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Secret Service Deputy Director Matthew Quinn stated that the shooter aimed to execute a \u201cnational tragedy.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201c[Allen] underestimated the protective capabilities of the U.S. Secret Service, and was stopped at first contact.
