Teh U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia,Jeanine pirro,said charges are being filed against the gunman who reportedly opened fire at the White House Correspondents\u2019 Dinner in what she described as an apparent attempt to assassinate President Donald Trump. Authorities arrested the suspect-described by multiple outlets as 31-year-old Cole Allen from Torrance, California-after Trump and those attending the event were evacuated due to the gunfire.<\/p>\n

Pirro said the suspect faces two counts, including using a firearm during a crime of violence and assault on a federal officer using a dangerous weapon. She noted that a uniformed Secret Service officer was shot but is expected to recover, and she suggested the attacker intended to cause as much harm as possible.<\/p>\n

She also emphasized that a checkpoint outside the ballroom helped prevent additional injuries<\/a> and recalled the moment shots were fired, describing how law enforcement responded quickly<\/a> and how thousands of attendees were affected by the sudden silence. <\/p>\n
