The move comes days after the far-left organization was indicted on charges related to allegedly making fraudulent payments to extremist groups including the Ku Klux Klan (KKK).<\/p>\n<p>Filed by the Center to Advance Security in America (CASA), the supplemental letter obtained by The Federalist requests that the IRS probe the SPLC&rsquo;s tax-exempt status in light of the recent charges returned by an Alabama-based grand jury. CASA previously <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/10\/09\/exclusive-good-government-group-demands-irs-probe-splcs-tax-exempt-status-over-left-wing-political-activity\/\">submi<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/10\/09\/exclusive-good-government-group-demands-irs-probe-splcs-tax-exempt-status-over-left-wing-political-activity\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">t<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/10\/09\/exclusive-good-government-group-demands-irs-probe-splcs-tax-exempt-status-over-left-wing-political-activity\/\">ted<\/a> a similar complaint with the IRS against the SPLC in October 2025 over what it described as &ldquo;partisan political activit[ies]&rdquo; that it claimed &ldquo;are grounds for immediate revocation of charitable status.&rdquo;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2 d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-2035066763\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1463670073398-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>As The Federalist previously <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/04\/22\/flashback-indicted-splc-once-targeted-the-federalist-for-publishing-an-attorney-generals-speech\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a>, the SPLC has regularly maligned conservative organizations by classifying them as &ldquo;hate groups&rdquo; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/fbi-does-it-too-media-hacks-go-all-out-to-downplay-splc-indictment\/\" title=\"Media Hacks Go All Out To Downplay ... ...\">alongside actual extremist groups<\/a>. The SPLC has even directed attacks against The Federalist.<\/p>\n<p><strong>[READ:[READ:<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/04\/22\/fbi-does-it-too-media-hacks-go-all-out-to-downplay-splc-indictment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">&lsquo;FBI Does It Too&rsquo;: Media Hacks Go All Out To Downplay SPLC Indictment<\/a>]<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The federal indictment <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2026\/04\/21\/grand-jury-indicts-southern-poverty-law-center-for-secret-fraudulent-payments-to-racist-groups\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">announced<\/a> earlier this week charged the SPLC with 11 counts of &ldquo;wire fraud, false statements to a federally insured bank, and conspiracy to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/democrat-henry-cuellar-releases-statement-after-being-indicted-on-federal-charges\/\" title=\"Henry Cuellar, a Democrat, Issues Statement Post Federal Charges ...\">commit concealment money laundering<\/a>,&rdquo; according to the DOJ. The charges notably alleged that, from 2014 to 2023, the far-left group paid more than $3 million in donor money to individuals affiliated with racist organizations including the KKK and United Klans of America as part of a purported &ldquo;covert&rdquo; informant network.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Given these new criminal allegations from the DOJ cited in this supplemental complaint, we believe this substantially increases the likelihood of an IRS investigation given the severity of the many federal crimes they are being investigated for and the large sum of money that was potentially fraudulently obtained from their donors,&rdquo; CASA Director James Fitzpatrick said in a statement to The Federalist. <\/p>\n<p>In its supplemental letter, CASA highlighted many of the federal indictment&rsquo;s key charges against the SPLC.
