moments of unintentional comedy reveal something unflattering.<\/p>\n<p>In a clip posted to the social media platform X, Jeffries &mdash; to his credit, at least &mdash; treated a young child&rsquo;s pointed question during a news conference as a lighthearted moment, an occasion for d laughter, only to then turn around and give a presumably serious answer worthy of mockery.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Why do voters view Democrats so poorly?&rdquo; Jeffries joked, wagging his finger at Raju.<\/p>\n<p>To that point, the New York Democrat had handled himself well enough.<\/p>\n<p>From there, however, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/hakeem-jeffries-tells-activist-audience-dei-explicitly-written-constitution\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jeffries<\/a> delivered a pablum-filled response that should remind conservative readers why they do not take him seriously in the first place.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Listen, I think that we exist in an era right now when the American people are understandably frustrated with institutions, because far too many people in this country are struggling to live paycheck to paycheck. They can&rsquo;t thrive and can barely survive.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Oh, brother. Talk about superfluous language.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;And so,&rdquo; he continued, &ldquo;there&rsquo;s a frustration with Congress, there&rsquo;s a frustration with institutional political parties, whether that&rsquo;s Democrats or Republicans, certainly a frustration with the courts, with organized religion, with the media, frustration with institutions of higher education, and, of course, frustration with the current president of the United States of America.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Democrats, it seems, have a contractual obligation to attack President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/trump-says-democrats-virginia-redistricting-win-rigged-calls-courts-fix-travesty-justice\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Donald Trump<\/a> in at least every other sentence. After all, many conservatives undoubtedly associate him with things like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/wh-literally-puts-jeffries-mariachi-band-video-repeat-will-blast-reporters-every-day-shutdown\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mariachi bands<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/hakeem-jeffries-accidentally-calls-dems-fart-hard-freedom-memes-hilarious\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">accidental references to flatulence<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>On the substance of his answer, however, the House minority leader got it wrong, as he and his fellow Democrats nearly always do.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realclearpolling.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">RealClearPolling<\/a>, the Democratic Party currently holds a net favorability rating of negative 22.7, more than four points worse than Republicans and more than eight points worse than Trump.<\/p>\n<p>Surely something more than &ldquo;frustration&rdquo; with &ldquo;institutions&rdquo; explains that.<\/p>\n<p>Thankfully, X users &mdash; even those who don&rsquo;t like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/trump-rips-scotus-new-one-dems-dont-need-add-justices-court-already-packed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Trump<\/a> or Republicans &mdash; supplied more clarity.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-conversation=\"none\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Because you don&rsquo;t support the American people, Just illegals and migrants and have shut down the government multiple times why wouldn&rsquo;t American peoples look down upon you?<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Nicholas Beverly (@zero6723) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/zero6723\/status\/2047361681131487450?\">April 23, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-conversation=\"none\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Should have asked why Democrats don&rsquo;t like women or think that girls are entitled to fair and safe sports.
